
Fall GPA Record Broken by Houston Student-Athletes

Ten of 17 Houston programs eclipse 3.0 GPA during fall semester
HOUSTON – Houston Athletics continually focuses on building Champions for Life by preparing more than 400 student-athletes to become champions in academics, athletics and in the community. That process continued in the fall as Houston student-athletes set a fall semester record with a GPA of 2.93. The mark bolstered a cumulative GPA of 2.94, tying the best mark following a fall semester in department history.

Twenty-eight percent of Houston's student-athletes (120) earned Dean's List honors for their fall semester academic work.
The numbers were bolstered by 10 of Houston's 17 teams eclipsing the 3.0 mark in cumulative GPA, led by Softball with a 3.54 cumulative GPA, followed by Women's Cross Country at 3.41. Soccer was third with a 3.38 GPA while Cross Country led all men's programs with a 3.18 cumulative GPA.
Softball also led the way in fall semester GPA, recording a 3.61, while Soccer was next at 3.41. Women's Cross Country ranked third among Houston's 17 sport programs at 3.40 in the fall, while Men's Cross Country led the way on the men's side with a 3.10 semester GPA.
Three programs boasted record fall GPAs as Football, Soccer and Softball all accomplished the feat. Four sport programs own their highest GPA following a fall semester as Soccer, Softball, Women's Track & Field and Volleyball laid claim to the feat.
Twenty-five student-athletes recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall: Keith Corbin (Football), Jacob Daulong (Football), Austin Robinson (Football), Natalie Anderson (Soccer), Katelyn Bub (Soccer), Emma Clarke (Soccer), Cassidy Formanek (Soccer), Morgan Goode (Soccer), Koral Hughes (Soccer), Olivia Lee (Soccer), Sarah Barker (Softball), Bethany Busch (Softball), Rachel Hertenberger (Softball), Rachel Hill (Softball), Kelli Montgomery (Softball), Maya Thomas (Softball), Rebecca Brandt (Swimming & Diving), Rachel Hicks (Swimming & Diving), Peyton Kondis (Swimming & Diving), Jenny Penneck (Swimming & Diving), Victoria Tillman (Swimming & Diving), Luke Barksdale (Track & Field), Jordan Booker (Track & Field), Maddy Castleberry (Track & Field) and Meredith Sorensen (Track & Field).
For Kondis, it marked a fourth consecutive semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA while Tillman and Barksdale each recorded a third straight semester with a 4.0 GPA. Barker and Penneck both recorded perfect GPAs for a second straight semester.
