FRANKLIN, TENN – Picking up where she left off a year ago, University of Houston senior All-American Leonie Harm posted a team-best 2-under 70 at the Mason Rudolph Championship to tie for 13th and lead the Cougars following the First Round.
Less than six months after being named American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, advancing to the NCAA Championships for the second time and becoming the first All-American in program history, Harm started the 2018-19 season in impressive fashion with a birdie on the 384-yard, par-4 first hole.
The Gerlingen, Germany, went on to add two more birdies with only one bogey on the day to pace Houston on the 6,430-yard, par-72 course at Vanderbilt Legends Club.
As a team, the Cougars posted a score of 292 to stand in eighth place. Host Vanderbilt posted the day's low round with a 10-under-278 to stand one stroke ahead of Arizona State. Clemson (283 ), Auburn (284), Wake Forest (288), Louisville (289) and North Carolina (290) rounded out the top-seven leaders.
Making her collegiate debut, freshman Hannah Screen drained a pair of birdies and was tied for 26th with an even-par 72.
Senior Tatiana Pineda was tied for 38th with a 74, while senior Yuka Kajiki was tied for 50th at 76. Junior Amanda Elich was tied for 55th at 77.
Vanderbilt's Abbey Carlson held the overall individual lead with a 66. Jennifer Zhou (North Carolina) and Siyun Liu (Wake Forest) were tied for second at 67, while Olivia Mehaffey stood in fourth at 68.
