Burrell Grabs Bronze at NACAC Championships

Alum reaches podium, Mario Burke takes ninth in 100-meter dash
HOUSTON – Recent alum Cameron Burrell continued an impressive summer on the international circuit by taking bronze at the NACAC Championships while representing Team USA on Saturday, in Toronto.
Burrell ran the fifth-fastest overall time in the 100-meter dash semifinals, when he crossed the line second in his heat at 10.16. Just over an hour later, Burrell returned for the final, where the NCAA Champion in the event sprinted down the track in 10.12 to cross the line third.
Rising-senior Mario Burke also competed in the semifinals of the 100, where he donned the colors of his home country of Barbados. Burke ran 10.29 in the second heat to finish fourth in the race and ninth overall.
ABOUT THE NACAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
In all, 31 countries will be represented at the NACAC Championships, including the United States, Barbados and Canada, where Cougars will be featured.

For fans with access, live TV coverage on CBC begins Saturday, Aug. 11, at 3 p.m. CT, and at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday, Aug. 11. WHAT TO WATCH
Jared Kerr will open the last day of competition in the finals of the men's long jump, beginning at 12:20 p.m. CT, Sunday. On the track, both Burrell and Burke will represent their respective countries in the finals of the 4x100-meter relay at 2:40 p.m. CT, while Burke and rising-senior Kahmari Montgomery will run in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:20 p.m. CT.
