Houston Welcomes Robert Boudwin

HOUSTON â€" Robert Boudwin has joined the University of Houston Department of Athletics as assistant athletics director for marketing and event presentation, Vice President for Athletics Chris Pezman announced Friday.
"We are excited to welcome a highly-respected member of the Houston community in Robert to the Houston family," Pezman said. "The new fan engagement team of Robert and Associate AD for Marketing and Fan Engagement Pam Kehoe will revolutionize our fan and gameday experience at Houston Athletics events. With his past highly successful experience in the market, we look forward to the energy and excitement Robert brings to our fan base and sport programs."
In the summer of 2016, Boudwin opened his own marketing, consulting & public speaking practice with the NCAA, Harris County Houston Sports Authority & Sam Houston Race Park being a few of his clients.
For more than two decades, Boudwin was better known as Houston Rockets mascot "Clutch the Bear," which was a character he created in 1995. In addition to performing at more than 1,500 games and 6,000 shows in 12 countries, he served as a content creator in the engagement economy, helping to build the Rockets' brand through in-game experience, grass roots marketing initiatives, community investment projects, creating an on-line presence and social media strategies.
Boudwin who is a native of Blue Bell, Pa, has authored seven children's books and was producer of popular school shows, reaching more than 1.2 million elementary students at more than 2,000 shows.
He was a 2006 inductee into the Mascot Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, two-time NBA Mascot of the Year and a 2014 Houston Chronicle Hometown Hero.
Philanthropically, he is known for his work with organ donation awareness, running the Houston Half-Marathon twice in the full Clutch mascot costume to promote the cause and serving on the Corporate Board of Directors for Life Gift since 2014.
He is a member of Leadership Houston Class XXXVI, which graduated in June 2018, and held a TEDx Talk at the University of Houston in November 2017.
A 1997 graduate of Delaware with a bachelor's degree in marketing, Boudwin obtained his final credits at the University of Houston while he was launching the Rockets' new mascot.
He lives in Spring, Texas, with his five children, Ashley, identical twins, Jack and Luke, and fraternal twins, Brooklyn and Bailey.
