Burrell, USA Take Gold at Athletics World Cup

Recent alum anchors home country to victory in 4x1 in London
LONDON -- Three-time NCAA Champion Cameron Burrell opened his post-collegiate career as the anchor leg for Team USA in the 4x100-meter relay at the Athletics World Cup, on Saturday, in London

Burrell ran the final leg of a team consisting of Jeff Demps, Kendall Williams and Obi Igbokwe that combined to pass the baton one lap around the track in 38.42. Team USA crossed the line just one-tenth of a second ahead of Jamaica (38.52), who edged out South Africa (38.53) for silver.
With the victory in the 4x100-meter relay, Burrell and Team USA picked up eight points towards the overall team standing. Through the first day of competition, the United States leads the Athletics World Cup with 109 points, while France sits second with 85 points and Poland and Jamaica are tied for third with 77 points.
The Athletics World Cup features eight of the world's top track & field nations in London, including the USA, Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Poland, China, Germany, France, Jamaica and South Africa.

STILL TO COME IN LONDON
Rising senior Kahmari Montgomery will wrap competition at the Athletics World Cup as a member of Team USA's 4x400-meter relay squad on Sunday. Montgomery, The United States outdoor champion in the 400-meter dash is slated to run the opening leg of the 4x4 at 3:45 p.m. CT, Sunday. Montgomery will team with Paul Dedewo, Nathan Strother and Igbokwe.
