Montgomery, USA Take Gold at Athletics World Cup

Rising senior anchors 4x4 squad to international win
Montgomery ran the final leg of a team that consisted of Nathan  Strother, Obi Igbokwe and Paul Dedewo, crossing the line in 2:59.78 to take the  gold. Montgomery split 45.30 on the final lap, helping the squad finish three  seconds in front of second-place Poland, who edged Germany for the silver.
On Saturday, recent alum Cameron Burrell anchored a  come-from-behind win for the United States in the 4x100-meter relay. Burrell  and teammates Jeff Demps, Kendall Williams and Igbokwe combined to pass the  baton one lap around the track in 38.42. Team USA crossed the line just  one-tenth of a second ahead of Jamaica (38.52), who edged out South Africa (38.53)  for silver.

The Houston duo helped Team USA score 16 points on the weekend. Â USA won the overall competition with 219 points.
