Notes
Houston student-athletes set a record with a semester GPA of 2.97 … The mark bolstered a cumulative GPA of 2.92, good for second-best in program history behind last spring's 2.93, while Houston student-athletes passed an average of 14.02 hours, the second-best total in program history in the spring … Twenty-six percent of Houston's student-athletes (109) earned Dean's List honors for their spring semester academic work … For more on Houston's academic success, click here.
BASEBALL
Last Week
Houston Baseball went 2-2 in NCAA Chapel Hill Regional to close the 2018 season with a 38-25 overall record.

Tabbed the No. 3 seed, Houston defeated No. 2 seed Purdue, 9-1, Friday … After falling 4-3 to No. 1 North Carolina on Saturday the Cougars defeated Purdue, 8-4, on Sunday before closing the season with a 19-11 decision to the host Tar Heels … At the conclusion of the Regional, Tyler Bielamowics, Joe Davis, Aaron Fletcher and Kyle Lovelace were named to the All-Regional Team … The NCAA postseason appearance marked the 22nd in program history and the fourth in the last five years.
MEN'S BASKETBALL

Kickoff times for seven Houston Football games this fall were announced by the American Athletic Conference and its network TV partners. The seven games included four set to showcase the University of Houston to national audiences on ABC, ESPN and Fox.

The seven include Houston's home opener vs. Arizona on Saturday, Sept. 8, that will kick off at 11 a.m. CT and air on ABC … Houston's two Thursday night games, Oct. 4 vs. Tulsa and Nov. 15 vs. Tulane, will kick off at 7 p.m. CT and air on ESPN … The game time for Houston's season opener at Rice on Saturday, Sept. 1, has been set for an 11 a.m. CT kickoff and will air on CBS Sports Network … Week three will see the Houston program travel to Lubbock, Texas, to take on Texas Tech in a game that will kick off at 3 p.m. CT and air on Fox as part of the Big 12's network designations … The fourth week of the season will see Houston host Texas Southern University in a game that will kick off at 7 p.m. CT and air on ESPN3 … Houston's seventh game of the season, Oct. 20 vs. Navy, will kick off at 2:30 p.m. and will air on CBS Sports Network … Houston senior center Will Noble was named to the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List … The nod is the third consecutive for Noble, as the award is presented annually to the nation's top center … Houston fans looking to join the #HTownTakeover and become new season ticket holders can do so now with new season tickets now available for purchase at UHCougars.com/tickets … 2018 season tickets for the six-game home slate start as low as $100 with any seat not sold to season ticket holders in 2017 available for purchase … A full map of the 2018 season ticket price breakdown can be found at UHCougars.com/map … The 2018 Major Applewhite Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, June 18, at the Wildcat Golf Club … The event, which benefits the Houston Football restricted fund, is set for a 12 p.m. shotgun start with registration and lunch opening at 10:30 a.m. … For more information, click here.

Houston Softball junior Savannah Heebner was named to the 2018 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-America Second Team.
Notes
Heebner was named to the Second Team after being tabbed to the NFCA All-Region First Team for the Central Region on May 17 … The native of Sedalia, Colo., she collects Houston's sixth All-America honor and first since 2014 … Cougars Angel Shamblin (Second Team), Jessica Valis (Third Team) and Laurie Wagner (Third Team) each collected All-America honors in 2008, and Haley Outon (Third Team) garnered the distinction in both 2012 and 2014 … Heebner's All-America laurel is also the fifth for the American Athletic Conference and first since Emily Watson of Tulsa was named to the Second Team in 2017 … Houston was one of five programs in the state of Texas with an honoree, joining Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech.
TRACK & FIELD

Houston Track & Field Head Coach Leroy Burrell was named the USTFCCCA South Central Region Coach of the Year for the outdoor season, and senior distance runner Brian Barraza was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for District 7.

Burrell swept each of the indoor and outdoor South Central Region Coach of the Year awards after claiming the indoor honor in March … In his 20th season with the Cougars, Burrell led the men and women to the first sweep of the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships since the league was formed in 2013 … It was the first time the men and women have swept conference titles since 2005 … At the national level, Burrell and the Cougars landed 11 individual bids for 13 events and two relays for the NCAA Championships in June … The men will send eight individuals, while the women will be represented at the championship meet for the first time since 2015 … Barraza was one of 10-student athletes to be named to the District 7 team and was one of just six men's athletes from The American to earn the honor … To be eligible for the Academic All-District teams, student-athletes must have completed one full year academically and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher … Barraza most recently became just the third Cougar in program history to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase and is the first Houston competitor since John Macy and Jerry Smartt each went in 1959 … The American Champion in the steeplechase broke his own school record in the event at the NCAA Regionals, when he ran 8:41.49 … Entering the NCAA Championships, Barraza owns six Houston distance records.
