BRYAN, Texas -- University of Houston senior and All-American Athletic Conference star Michael Perras posted a 75 Tuesday during the NCAA Bryan Regional and slipped into a tie for 19th at Traditions Club.
After shooting a 70 in Monday's First Round on the 7,121-yard, par-72 course, Perras struggled early with back-to-back bogeys to start Tuesday's play. The Deer Park, Texas, native rallied with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14-15 and finished the final three holes with a bogey and consecutive pars.
Texas A&M teammates Chander Phillips and Brandon Smith continued to hold the individual lead at 8-under 136. Braden Thornberry (Mississippi) and Clemson teammates Doc Redman and Turk Pettit were tied for third at 137, while Baylor's Cooper Dossey and McNeese's Blake Elliott were tied for sixth at 138.
Host and second-ranked Texas A&M held the team lead at 558, one stroke ahead of no. 14 Clemson. No. 11 Baylor (570), No. 26 UCLA (576) and No. 34 Mississippi (579) rounded out the Top-5 leaders.
ABOUT Michael Perras
Perras was one of six individuals and 13 teams chosen to play at the NCAA Bryan Regional This marked the third straight season in which he competed in NCAA Regional play. He became only the 17th player in program history to compete in 3+ NCAA Regionals during his career.
He captured the NCAA Franklin Regional title in his first appearance in 2016 and eventually became the first player in program history to win both NCAA Regional and conference championships titles during his career.
In 2017-18, Perras leads the Cougars with a 70.88 scoring average and 24 rounds of par or better, including a 65 in the Final Round at the season-opening The Jackrabbit in September.
After posting a score of 215 at the American Athletic Conference Championships, the Deer Park, Texas, native recorded his third straight Top-10 finish at The American Championships. He also moved into the Cougars' Top-10 career leaders in stroke average (72.12), strokes (10,457) and rounds played (145).
Perras is the first Cougar to compete as an individual in NCAA Regional play since Jordan Irwin played at the NCAA Central Regional at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., in 2007.

FINAL-ROUND PAIRINGS
For Wednesday's Final Round, Perras will compete in a group with Georgia's Jake Larkin and UTSA's Zander Lozano. That group will tee off No. 1 at 9:31 a.m., Wednesday.
NCAA REGIONALS HISTORY
The Cougars have enjoyed a rich history in NCAA Regional play. This marks the seventh straight season in which Houston has been represented in the NCAA postseason.
During its history, the Cougars have recorded one NCAA Regional team title, four NCAA Regional individual championships (including Perras, who won the 2016 NCAA Franklin Regional) with 20 total team appearances.
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars enjoyed six straight appearances as a team in NCAA Regionals from 2012 to 2017.
Perras becomes the fourth Cougar to compete as individual, joining Jordan Irwin (2007 NCAA Central), Zach Mowbray (2004 NCAA); Brett Callas (2003 NCAA Central medalist) and Lance Combrink (1996 NCAA Central).
