After falling 9-4 at No. 19 Texas on Tuesday, the Cougars swept No. 7 ECU, 5-4, 3-1 and 6-5, to maintain their stake atop The American leaderboard … Houston outhit ECU, 11-8, and had five extra-base hits on Friday … Sophomore Wendell Champion II turned in a three-RBI night with a double and home run, while senior Connor Hollis had a three-hit day with two doubles … Sophomore Carter Henry, who was named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List prior to the series, picked up his sixth save of the year behind two and one-third scoreless innings to lockdown the win … On Saturday, Houston secured its first series win at ECU since 2010 with a 3-1 victory … On the mound, junior Aaron Gletcher tossed 7.1 innings of one-run ball before handing it over to senior Joey Pulido for his first of two saves in the series … On Sunday, junior Joe Davis went 3-for-5 a home run and 3 RBI … Davis' long ball is the 26th of his career and moves him into fifth all-time in the Houston record book … For his efforts, Hollis was named The American Player of the Week.

With the third pick of the seventh round, Houston linebacker Matthew Adams was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The 2018 American American Athletic Conference Champion Cougars are coming off winning their second crown in the last three years … Houston shot a 6-over 870 to win by a 14-stroke margin … A day after wining the title, Megan Thothong, Allie Anderson, Courtney Tibiletti and Harm were all named to the All-American Athletic Conference Team … With four honorees, Houston topped its previous record of three for most All-Conference performers in a single season … Adding to the postseason awards, Leonie Harm and Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell collected the top individual awards from The American … Harm was chosen by the league's head coaches as the Player of the Year for the first time in her career, while Chadwell received the league's Coach of the Year honor for the second time in the last three years … The Cougars join No. 1 seed Arkansas, No. 2 seed Texas, No. 3 seed Michigan State, No. 4 seed Florida, No. 5 seed Auburn, No. 6 seed Oklahoma, No. 8 seed Miami (Fla.), No. 9 seed Baylor, No. 10 seed Texas A&M, No. 11 seed BYU, No. 12 seed ECU, No, 13 seed Texas Tech, No. 14 seed Virginia Tech, No. 15 seed UTSA, No. 16 seed Georgetown, No. 17 seed Houston Baptist and No. 18 seed Missouri State on the 6,342-yard, par-72 layout at UT Golf Club.

Houston split its series with the nationally-ranked Lady Bears on Tuesday, falling 1-0 in nine innings before closing the twin bill with a 4-3 victory … Freshman designated player Aspen Howie led the team offensively, going 3-for-6 across the doubleheader … In the first game, Howie and teammates Arielle James, Sarah Queen and Maya Thomas all hit safely … In the second game, Howie finished 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored … Queen also doubled in the nightcap, and junior Savannah Heebner picked up the win behind a complete-game effort … At UConn, the Cougars bookended the series with a pair of shutouts … After shifting to a doubleheader on Saturday due to inclement weather on Friday, the Cougars shutout the Huskies 8-0 in five innings … In the series finale, Houston picked another shutout with a 4-0 decision to take the series, 2-1 … For her efforts, Queen was named The American Player of the Week … Queen led the team with a .438/.625/.500 finishing 7-for-16 with three doubles, one walk, four RBI and four runs scored … In addition, Heebner was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll … Heebner posted a 3-0 record in the circle, compiling a 1.11 ERA with two shutouts across 19 innings pitched … Heebner recorded one walk to 19 strikeouts, including 10 in the series-clinching win at UConn on Sunday, in addition to her upset of Baylor … With her wins, Heebner improved 22-8 … Her 22 wins and 11 shutouts break her tie with Amanda Crabtree (2011) in both categories for the third all-time at Houston in a single season … Overall, Heebner has 46 career victories, a mark which ranks fifth all-time in program history.

Houston picked up two wins at the Penn Relays and one at the LSU Invitational … At the Penn Relays, the Cougars won both the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays, marking the first time since 1980 with two really wins … The squad of Amere Lattin, Mario Burke, Cameron Burrell and Kamari Montgomery ran a school-record 3:01.82 to claim Houston's first ever Penn Relay title in the 4x400 … The program-best mark gives Houston the No. 2 time in the NCAA this season … Montgomery ran a anchor-leg split of 43.38, the 11th fastest time ever in the 4x400 in track & field … For his effort, Montgomery was named Penn Relays' Athlete of the Meet for Relays … For complete results from the Penn Relays, click here … At the LSU Invitational, Nora Monie won the discus with a throw of 168-2 (51.26m) … Also competing in the shot put, Monie threw a mark of 52-11.5 (16.14m) to place her fifth … For complete results of the LSU Invitational, click here … Houston's men's track team was ranked fifth in the latest rankings by USTFCCCA.
