MONTGOMERY, Texas â€" University of Houston sophomore Pryce Beshoory posted an even-par 72 in Tuesday's Final Round to tie for fifth with a 54-hole score of 216 at the Bearkat Invitational at Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club.
Competing as an individual, Beshoory drained a pair of birdies on his first nine holes to earn his second straight Top-10 finish and his fourth of the season.
Sam Houston State posted its third straight team round of par or better to capture the championship with a score of 857. UT Rio Grande Valley finished second at 871, while Stephen F. Austin placed third at 881.
Sam Houston State's Jake McCrory earned medalist honors with a score of 9-under-207 to finish four strokes ahead of teammate William Holcomb. Beshoory joined Jake Hendrix (Stephen F. Austin) and Tennoshin Ogawa (UT Rio Grande Valley) in a tie for third.
Redshirt freshman Andrew Gibson joined Beshoory with a 72 in Tuesday's Final Round and tied for 15th at 225. Sophomores Tony Gil and Sam Elkington withdrew and did not compete in Tuesday's play.
UP NEXT
Following the Bearkat Invitational, the Cougars will compete as a team in their regular-season finale at the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, on April 7-8.
From there, Houston takes its first step into the postseason when it tees off at the American Athletic Conference Championships on April 22-24 on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla.
Perras looks to defend his American Athletic Conference Championships individual title from a year ago. With that championship, he became the first Cougar in program history to win NCAA Regional and conference championships titles during his career.
