Against Rice, Cougars Lael Lockhart Jr., Fred Villarreal and Carter Henrey combined to shutout the Owls and even the Silver Glove Series, 1-1 … Connor Hollis drove in what proved to be the game-winning run with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning for the 1-0 final … At Tulane, Houston fell 17-16 in a slugfest on Friday … The Cougars registered 14 hits, as five players recorded multi-hit games … Due to impending weather on Saturday, the series closed with a doubleheader on Sunday … Houston fell 2-0 in the first game before bouncing back with a 5-3 win in the series finale … Nick Slaughter drove in two runs with a single in the ninth to break a 3-3 tie … The Cougars, who return to action with a weekend series against Wichita State, will have throwback jerseys for the first 900 fans (mix of adult large and youth large) on Friday … On Saturday, fans will have the opportunity to take their photo with the Houston Astros World Series Trophy between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., and it is also "Boy Scouts Night" with $3 tickets for area boy scouts … Sunday is "Bark at the Park" with a free dog bowl giveaway for fans.

Senior guard Rob Gray participated in the four-day Portsmouth Invitational in Portsmouth, Va., last week … Gray was one of 64 seniors invited to participate in the four-day, 12-game tournament in front of NBA scouts … Gray's participation marked the second-straight season in which the Cougars were represented at the tournament … In 2017, guard Damyean Dotson was honored as the event's Most Valuable Player after averaging 14.7 points per game on 55.9 percent shooting with 6.0 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game … Coming off one of the program's best seasons in decades, Houston Men's Basketball fans can begin preparing for the 2018-19 season when the Cougars compete in the $60-million Fertitta Center for the first time with the announcement of season-ticket pricing … Fans now have the opportunity to take their first steps toward the 2018-19 season by placing a $30 deposit on 2018-19 season tickets at UHCougars.com/mbbdeposit or by calling 713-462-6647 … For the seating map and more info, click here.

On Tuesday, Houston split a doubleheader at Lamar, falling 3-2 in nine innings and winning 6-3 in 11 innings … Juniors Savannah Heebner and Maya Thomas each collected four hits across the doubleheader … Heebner led the team with two multi-hit games, going 4-for-9 with a double, triple, walk, two runs scored and a stolen base, the first of her career … The Cougars shutout Wichita State, 7-0, on Friday … Heebner tossed a four-hitter and retired nine-straight between the third and sixth innings … The complete-game shutout was the eighth for the native of Sedalia, Colo., and 17th overall of her career … Saturday and Sunday marked "Alumni Weekend" at Cougar Softball Stadium … Prior to first pitch on Saturday, former letterwinners were recognized on field pregame, and after the game, Houston held its annual alumni slow pitch game … On Sunday, the Cougars recognized the 10-year anniversary of their 2008 NCAA Super Regional Squad with an on-field ceremony, video board tribute and first pitch from All-Americans Angel Shamblin and Jessica Valis … The Cougars then won the rubber game, 6-3, to take the series, 2-1 … For the week, Heebner went 2-2 with three complete games, including a shutout, and a 1.46 ERA to be named The American Pitcher of the Week … Houston's series finale against Tulsa on Sunday will be televised on ESPNU … Sunday's game will also serve as "Bark at the Park" at Cougar Softball Stadium, and fans are invited to bring their favorite K-9 friend … The first 150 fans through the gate will receive a free dog bowl courtesy of Houston Marketing.
