SAN JOSE del CABO, Mexico â€" University of Houston senior Michael Perras fired a 1-under 70 in Tuesday's Final Round, and sophomore Zach Tracy tied for 16th to lead the Cougars at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate on Tuesday afternoon.
Starting his day off No. 15 on the 6,898-yard, par-71 course at Querencia Golf Club, Perras jumped off to a quick start with a birdie on the par-5 hole. The Deer Park, Texas, native endured a bogey on No. 1 but quickly regained that stroke with a birdie on the 184-yard, par-3 second hole.
Despite his final bogey of the day on No. 10, Perras again wasted little time in returning under par with a birdie on the 12th hole and tied for 20th at 216.
Playing as an individual, Tracy enjoyed an even-round 71 in Tuesday's round. Like Perras, the Houston native started his round with a birdie on No. 15. Following six pars and a bogey, Tracy battled through a double-bogey on the par-4 fifth hole and enjoyed an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole to tie for 16th at 215.
The Cougars finished 14th with a score of 898 against a field which featured 12 of the nation's top-50 programs, including three top-five schools.
No. 1 Oklahoma State posted a team score of 4-under-280 Tuesday and captured the team title at 838 to finish eight shots ahead of No. 13 California. No. 15 Texas (858), No. 29 Arizona State (859), Duke (860), No. 23 USF (862), No. 19 Arkansas (862), No. 2 Vanderbilt (865), No. 20 Florida State (869) and No. 5 Baylor (871) rounded out the top-10.
For the third straight day, California's Collin Morikawa posted a round in the 60s with a 64 Tuesday and earned medalist honors with a score of 16-under 197 to finish three shots ahead of Oklahoma State's Matthew Wolff.
Viktor Hovland (Oklahoma State), Theo Humphrey (Vanderbilt) and Alvaro Ortiz (Arkansas) tied for third at 209.
