SAN JOSE del CABO, Mexico â€" University of Houston sophomore Pryce Beshoory posted an even-par 71 Sunday to lead the Cougars and tie for 15th following the First Round of the Querencia Cabo Collegiate.
Competing on the 6,898-yard, par-71 course at Querencia Golf Club, Beshoory drained a pair of birdies midway through his round to lead Houston.
Playing as an individual, fellow sophomore Zach Tracy also enjoyed a 71 in Sunday's play and led Houston with four birdies during the round.
As a team, the Cougars stood in 13th with a score of 297. The tournament feature 12 of the nation's top-50 teams.
No. 1 Oklahoma State posted a score of 8-under-276 to lead No. 13 California by five strokes. No. 29 Arizona State was in third at 285 with No. 15 Texas (286) and No. 20 Florida State (287) rounding out the top-five leaders.
On the individual leaderboard, Oklahoma State's Matthew Wolf fired a 65 to hold a 1-stroke advantage of California's Collin Morikawa. Theo Humphrey (Vanderbilt), Viktor Hovland (Oklahoma State) and Jake Benson (Rice) were tied for third at 68.

SECOND ROUND on MONDAY
The tournament continues with the Second Round beginning with a 10 a.m. (CST) shotgun start Monday. The Cougars will compete in group with student-athletes from Arkansas, Texas and Baylor and Wake Forest.
Beshoory will begin his round off No. 15 with Perras (No. 16), Gonzalez (first group off No. 17), William (second group off No. 17) and Gardner (No. 18 following.
Tracy will also start his round off No. 15.
The tournament wraps up with the final 18 holes Tuesday morning.
UP NEXT
Following the Querencia Cabo Collegiate, Houston will play host to the Border Olympics on March 9-10 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
From there, the team will host the Valspar Collegiate Championships on March 18-20 at Floridian Golf Club in Palm City, Fla.
