LAKE CHARLES, La. â€" University of Houston sophomore Pryce Beshoory fired a 69 in the Final Round at the McNeese Lake Charles Invitational to surge into a tie for seventh on Tuesday afternoon.
Starting his day on No. 14 on the 6,869-yard, par-72 course at The Country Club at The Golden Nugget, Beshoory enjoyed a bogey-free round on the way to his third top-10 finish of the season. He finished with a score of 3-under 213.
Beshoory drained his first birdie of the day on the 169-yard, par-3 16th hole and followed that three holes later with a birdie on the par-5 first hole.
After back-to-back pars, the Pearland, Texas, native sank his final birdie of the day on the par-3 fourth hole and closed out the tournament with nine consecutive pars.
Sophomore Tony Gil posted an even-par 72 and tied for 14th at 216. The Vaughan, Ontario native sank three birdies in his final round for a season-best finish.
Redshirt freshman Andrew Gibson tied for 24th at 220, while sophomore Sam Elkington tied for 37th at 225.
With only four individuals competing, the Cougars did not compete for the team title. Louisiana finished with a 54-hole score of 850 to finish 12 shots ahead of No. 39 Marquette. Stephen F. Austin finished third at 870 with Lamar (871) and Texas State (874) rounding out the Top-5.
Louisiana's Jack Tolson earned medalist honors at 15-under 201 and finished four strokes ahead of Texas State's Logan Davis. Louisiana's Bjorn Gudjonsson finished third at 208 with Hunter Eichhorn (Marquette) and Cody Banach (Lamar) tying for fourth at 211.
UP NEXT
Following the McNeese Lake Charles Invitational, the Cougars will travel to compete at the 3M Augusta Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., beginning Saturday.
From there, Houston will compete in its regular-season finale at the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, on April 7-8.
