Houston Baseball will hold its annual Fan Appreciation Day & Alumni Game on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 12:30 p.m. ... Gates will open at 10:30 a.m. ... The event is free and open to the public ... Reigning American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and All-American Trey Cumbie was tabbed a NCBWA Preseason First Team All-American, the organization announced Monday ... In 2017, Cumbie led The American with a 2.04 ERA and a 10-2 record in 15 starts ... The southpaw fanned 82 in 101.1 innings with four complete games.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week
Houston Men's Basketball went 1-1, falling 80-70 at No. 8/8 Cincinnati before defeating UCF, 69-65, to improve to 17-5 overall and 7-3 in American Athletic Conference play.

Notes
At Cincinnati, junior guard Corey Davis Jr. finished with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists ... Senior forward Devin Davis posted 15 points and added a team-high nine rebounds ... Sophomore guard Armoni Brooks totaled 12 points, thanks to four 3-pointers, while freshman forward Fabian White Jr. added 10 points ... At UCF, senior guard Rob Gray finished with 20 points, while Corey Davis Jr. had three 3-pointers and 15 points, and Breaon Brady grabbed nine rebounds ... For his efforts, Corey Davis Jr. was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll ... As the former Hofheinz Pavilion is transformed into the $60-million Fertitta Center, the Cougars will play their 2017-18 home games inside Health & PE Arena on the campus of nearby Texas Southern University.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week
Houston Women's Basketball improved to 18-6 overall and 7-3 in American Athletic Conference play with a 72-48 win over Tulane on Wednesday and 73-62 victory at Wichita State on Saturday.

Against Tulane, the Cougars finished with a trio of players in double figures including a game-high 20 from sophomore Jasmyne Harris, who also pulled down six rebounds and had a game-high seven assists ... Sophomore Angela Harris added 17 points, while junior Octavia Barnes finished with 12, and junior Serithia Hawkins paced the Cougars on the glass with eight rebounds ... Houston limited the Green Wave to 48 points, a season-low for the opposition ... At Wichita State, Houston rallied from a nine-point deficit to pick up its 18th overall win, its most since 2010-11 season, and seventh conference victory, its most as a member of The American ... Jasmyne Harris (24 points), Hawkins (18 points), Dorian Branch (14 points) and Barnes (10 points) all eclipsed double figures.

FOOTBALL
Notes
Thanks to a season that saw Houston's Ed Oliver become the first sophomore in college football history to win the Outland Trophy, the Houston Football program will be represented in the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta until the start of the 2018 season ... Oliver's game-worn jersey, pants and gloves will be on display on the second floor of the facility following a season that saw the Houston native also become Houston's first consensus All-American since 1989 when Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware claimed the honor ... Houston tight ends coach James Casey has added the role of special teams coordinator ... Casey, who is in his third year with the Houston program, had overseen the Cougars' punt team and assisted with the kickoff return unit in 2017 ... MEN'S GOLF

Houston Men's Golf fans are invited to attend the program's annual fundraiser at the Insperity Dave Williams Cougar Am, set for 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, at Golf Club of Houston ... All proceeds benefit Project 17, the Houston Men's Golf booster club ... Individual and team spots are open, but interested fans are encouraged to make reservations ... Teams can purchase a foursome for $5,000, while individuals can play for $1,250 per person ... That provides participants with opportunities to play with a Champions Tour professional or former Houston Golf star and includes food, drinks and a tee gift ... Fans who are unable to play in the tournament can still contribute to the program and receive Houston Golf apparel with a $500 donation ... For more information, click here.

The Houston Women's Golf annual fundraiser has been pushed back to Sunday, Feb. 11 ... Fans are invited to join the nationally ranked Houston Women's Golf team's annual fundraiser, slated to begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 14 ... The fun-filled event will be held at Topgolf Spring (560 Spring Park Center Blvd., Spring, TX 77373) ... All proceeds from the event benefit the Houston Women's Golf program ... Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell, Associate Head Coach Lucy Nunn and student-athletes will be on hand to participate with fans ... Tickets are available for $175 per person or $700 per foursome with snacks, dinner, drinks and a gift provided for each player ... Two-time LPGA Player of the Year Stacy Lewis Chadwell will be a special guest at the event ... Participants will also enjoy a silent auction with a variety of prizes. Last week, Houston Soccer announced a six-match spring schedule, featuring three home and three away matches ... Home matches include Houston Baptist (March 3), UTSA (March 3) and McNeese (April 15), while road matches feature trips to Lamar (March 24), Texas A&M (March 30) and Sam Houston State (April 12).

SOFTBALL
Last Week
Houston Softball closed its preseason with its annual Red-White Series, as White defeated Red, 10-7 and 6-5, at Cougar Softball Stadium.

Notes
Houston Softball will open its 2018 season at Texas A&M's Aggie Classic across Feb. 9-11 ... The Cougars will take on the host Aggies, as well as fellow participants Boston College and Texas Tech ... Houston, picked second in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, is coming off a 30-25 campaign in 2017 ... The Cougars, who were 12-6 in conference play, finished second in The American for the regular season and added a runner-up finish at The American Championship ... The two finishes are both the highest respective finishes for the program as a member of the league.

SWIMMING & DIVING

Houston Swimming & Diving will hit the pool one last time before The American Championships (Feb. 14-17 in Dallas) with the Houston First Chance Meet ... The Cougars last competed against LSU, Rice and Tulane in a quadruple dual on Jan. 26-27.

TENNIS
Last Week
Houston Tennis improved to 5-0 on the season with a 7-0 win over Southern Friday at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.

Notes
Against Southern, the tandems of Tsveta Dimitrova and Sveva Mazzari, and Lauren Alter and Alison Mills each picked up 6-1 wins over the Jaguars, before the Cougars swept singles play .. Earlier in the week, Head Coach Courtney Steinbock announced the hiring of Daniel Bickett as the team's assistant coach ... Bickett, a Houston native, joined the Cougars from Wisconsin, where he had served as a volunteer assistant since 2016.

TRACK & FIELD
Last Week
The Houston Cougar Men's and Women's Track & Field teams continued the indoor slate with the Charlie Thomas Invitational at Texas A&M.

Notes
At the Charlie Thomas Invitational, senior distance runner Maddie Brown stole the show for Houston on Day 1 by setting a new personal best by over 30 seconds in the 5,000-meter run, when she posted a time of 16:53.99 to win the event ... The time for Brown moves her to No. 49 in the NCAA this season and is the second fastest time in program history, sitting just four-hundredths of a second shy of the school record ... On Day 2, sophomore sprinter Elijah Hall broke his own school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.51, the second-fastest time in the NCAA this season ... For full results, click here.
