In Houston season's opener on Friday, junior starter Trey Cumbie struck out a career-high 12 batters … For his effort, he was named Collegiate Baseball's National Player of the Week … On Saturday, Aaron Fletcher made his first career start and struck out a career-high six hitters across five innings … For his effort, Fletcher was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll … On Sunday, senior Cooper Coldiron tied the game with a home run in the eighth and plated the game-winning run with an RBI single in the 10th to walk it off and seal the series win.

Houston Men's Basketball check in at No. 23 in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll … It marks the first time since the final poll of 1984 in which the Cougars are ranked in both polls … Against No. 5/5 Cincinnati, Houston rallied from a double-digit deficit to win 67-62 and improve to 13-0 at Texas Southern's H&PE Arena … With the win, the Cougars collected their first victory over an Associated Press Top-5 team since a 69-67 win over No. 3 Memphis on Jan. 6, 1996, in Houston … The Cougars also recorded the 24th 20-win season in school history and the third under Head Coach Kelvin Sampson … He became the first coach in school history to post three 20+ win seasons in his first four years as a Cougar … Senior forward Devin Davis finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season, while junior guard Corey Davis Jr. added 16 points with four 3-pointers … At Temple, Corey Davis Jr. poured in 20 points with six 3-pointers, and Devin Davis recorded his second straight double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Against ECU, Houston Women's Basketball team never trailed in a 97-81 victory to hit 20-win mark for the 12th time in program history … The 20-win season is the first since the 2010-11 Houston team had a 26-6 record en route to becoming the last Houston team to advance to an NCAA tournament … Houston finished the contest with four players in double figures, including a career-high 32 points from sophomore Angela Harris … Sophomore Jasmyne Harris finished the game with 15 points, while junior Octavia Barnes tied her career high with 11 rebounds to go along with 13 points for her second career double-double … For her efforts, Angela Harris was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll.

Houston Softball went 1-3 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the program's first-ever international trip … Houston defeated No. 15/18 Ole Miss, 6-0, while falling to No. 3/3 Oregon, 1-0, Rutgers, 4-3 (8 Inn.), and Texas 7-3 … For their efforts, Arielle James, Sarah Queen and redshirt junior Sarah Barker were named to the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge All-Tournament Team … Sophomore Trystan Melancon was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday … Melancon posted a 1-1 record with a 1.75 ERA across eight innings pitched, including being part of a 6-0 shutout against No. 15/18 Ole Miss … The native of Tomball, Texas, limited the Rebels to just five hits across six innings … The honor is the first of Melancon's career, while the conference nod is the second for the Cougars on the season after senior shortstop Maria Garcia was named The American Player of the Week for opening weekend … In addition, Queen was named to the Honor Roll … Queen led the team with a .545 batting average, going 7-for-11 with a double, RBI and run scored across four games in Mexico … Against Rutgers on Saturday, the Houston native tied her career high with three hits.

Houston Swimming & Diving program earned its second straight American Athletic Conference Championship.

With a combined 826 points, 23 podium finishes and nine conference championships the Cougars retained control of the top spot in the American Athletic Conference … The back-to-back championships are a first for the Cougars, as last season's title was the program's first … In only his third season at the helm of the Houston Swimming & Diving program, Head Coach Ryan Wochomurka was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season … The Cougars got out to an emphatic start, finishing the 800 Medley Relay in a program-record time of 7:07.86 … In the second event of the evening, Lauren Burrell posted 287.45 in the 3-Meter springboard for her first conference championship … On day two, Zarena Brown won the 500 Freestyle in 4:44.59 … In the second event of the day, Houston went one-two after team captains Eleanna Koutsouveli and Peyton Kondis posted the programs top-two times in the 200 Individual Medley … Koutsouveli touched the wall in 1:58.68, while Kondis finished in 1:59.75 … On day three, Victoria Tillman won the 100 Butterfly in 54.26 … Houston swept the 200 freestyle, as Brown (1:45.78), Ksenia Yuskova (1:47.71) and Mykenzie Leehy (1:47.85) took the top three spots … In the 100 breaststroke, Peyton Kondis won the event for a second-straight year in 59.73 … On the fourth day, Brown posted her third win with a first-place finish in the 100 Freestyle, swimming 49.09 … In the final event, the team of Leehy, Yuskova, Laderoute and Brown won the 400 Free Relay in 3:18.56 … For complete results, click here.

Houston's eight-straight wins marked the program's best start to a season since winning 13-consecutive matches to open the 1990 spring season … Against New Mexico State, the tandems of Tsveta Dimitrova and Sveva Mazzari, and Lauren Alter and Alison Mills secured the doubles point with 6-2 and 6-0 victories … In singles, Dimitrova, Mazzari, Alter, Nicolau, Mills and Glumac all won to seal the sweep … Against Rice, Houston won the double point, and Dimitrova and Mazzari won in singles.

Houston's men's team will look to four-peat as conference champions, while the women will look to improve on third-place finish from last season, their first podium finish since 2014 … The Houston men improved six spots in the latest USTFCCCA rankings, coming in at No. 10 … Individually, Houston has four top-10 marks with Elijah Hall No. 3 in the 60-meter dash and No. 4 in the 200-meter dash, Kahmari Montgomery No. 9 in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay of Hall, Montgomery, Mario Burke and Amere Lattin ranked No. 4.
