Houston Returns to Top 25 Polls

Houston returns to AP Top 25 for first time since Nov. 20, 2016
HOUSTON – Following a 57-36 win over previously undefeated and then-No. 21 USF, Houston returned to the top 25 rankings at No. 17 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls on Sunday.

Sunday's return marked the first appearance by Houston in the AP poll since ranking No. 18 in the Nov. 20, 2016 poll, and is the highest ranking since coming in at No. 11 in the Oct. 16, 2016 poll. It's the 194th overall appearance for Houston in the AP Top 25.
Houston's 57 points were the most ever given up by USF as Saturday marked the eighth straight game with at least 40 points for the Houston offense this season. UH leads the nation in total offense with 571.1 yards per game while trailing only Alabama in scoring offense at 49.8 points per game.
After eight games of action, junior quarterback D'Eriq King leads the nation in points responsible for with 236, is No. 3 nationally in passing touchdowns with 28, No. 5 in total offense with 352.0 yards per game, No. 6 in rushing touchdowns with 11, No. 6 pass in efficiency with a rating of 173.0 and No. 8 in passing yards with 2,403.
With 39 touchdowns responsible for already this season, 28 passing and 11 rushing, King already ranks fourth on The American Athletic Conference's single-season chart for touchdowns responsible for, and is only six away from the record of 45 set by UCF's McKenzie Milton in 2017.
His 11 rushing touchdowns also leads all quarterbacks nationally as he is the only quarterback in the nation with at least 20 passing touchdowns and seven rushing touchdowns.
