As the former Hofheinz Pavilion is transformed into the $60-million Fertitta Center, the Cougars will play most of their 2017-18 home games inside Health & PE Arena on the campus of nearby Texas Southern University ... Training camp for the USA Men's National Team begins Aug. 17 and wraps up Aug. 24 inside the Guy V. Lewis Development Facility.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Head Coach Ronald Hughey and the Houston Women's Basketball program announced the 2017-18 non-conference schedule, which features the program's first trip to the Preseason WNIT and 11 additional contests, including a home matchup against former Southwest Conference rival Texas Tech on Dec. 3.

Houston kicks off the season with a trip to College Station, Texas, where it meets Texas A&M in the first round of the Preseason WNIT at 7 p.m., on Nov. 10 ... Second-round action of the prestigious tournament will be held Nov. 12 and 13, while semifinal contests will run Nov. 15 and 16 with the finals taking place on Nov. 19 ... Opponents in the later round are to be determined ... Following the Preseason WNIT, Houston heads to Massachusetts for a trio of contests during the Thanksgiving holiday break ... Houston visits Boston College on Nov. 22, before heading to Amherst, Mass., to take on Liberty (Nov. 24) and Northeastern (Nov. 25) in the UMass Thanksgiving Tournament ... Houston wraps the opening month of the season with a trip to Texas State on Nov. 28 ... The Cougars open the month of December at UT Arlington on Dec. 1 before returning to Houston for the first time to host the Red Raiders ... The Cougars will play their home contests at H&PE Arena on the campus of Texas Southern while renovations on the $60-million Fertitta Center continue ... Houston plays host to East Tennessee State on Dec. 10 before heading back on the road for their final away contest of the non-conference slate when it meets Big 10 opponent Rutgers on Dec. 16 ... A three-game home stand wraps up the non-conference portion of the season beginning with a contest against Incarnate Word on Dec. 18 ... The Cougars announced The Audible Mobile Pass, a unique season pass is 100% mobile and allows you the opportunity to watch the game from various viewpoints in the stadium with a different seat each week. Houston also announced this year's Cage Rage, presented by Bud Light, returns to campus Friday, Aug. 25, at 7:30 p.m.

#HTownTakeover Head Coach Major Applewhite sampled 'The Applewhite' from BB's Cafe on Monday afternoon. The entrée, which is a combo of catfish, crawfish and shrimp étouffée served with garlic bread and white and dirty rice, hits the menu at Houston area locations beginning Sept. 5 ... Fans of the #HTownTakeover who are not able to take advantage of cost-effective Houston Football season tickets will have the opportunity to purchase mini plans through the Houston Athletics Ticket Office beginning Tuesday at 9 a.m. Mini plans are available for $120 and gain entry to four of Houston's six home games this season.

Houston Men's Golf announced the program will compete in 10 regular-season tournaments before heading to postseason play in 2017-18.

Houston Men's Golf stars Michael Perras and Pryce Beshoory open play at the U.S. Amateur Championship, starting Monday morning at Bel-Air Country Club.

Perras and Beshoory join more than 300 players in 36 holes of stroke play (18 holes at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., and 18 holes at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles) through Monday and Tuesday ... With the completion of stroke play, the top 64 players will advance to match play, beginning Wednesday at Rivera Country Club ... The Cougars will enjoy four tournaments in the fall with six in the spring season, as they look advance to NCAA Regional play for the seventh consecutive season under Director of Golf Jonathan Dislike ... Houston has competed in seven straight NCAA Regionals as a team only once in school history from 1989 to 1995 ... In 2017-18, Dismuke will lead the Cougars across the nation from Hawai'i in the fall to Florida in the spring with a trip to Mexico added ... In its exhibition at UTSA, Houston registered 14 shots with five on goal ... Nine Cougars recorded shots during the match, led by freshman Jazmin Grant and senior Selena Peters with three shots each ... Houston held the Roadrunners to nine shots in total ... Three goalkeepers spent time in goal during the match. Rachel Estopare got the starting nod, while Kate Godfrey and Kaitlin Sterner split time in the second half. Godfrey capped off her freshman debut with a team-high two saves.

The tournament, which features a 10-team field split into two five-team pods between Feb. 8-10 (Session I) and Feb. 15-18 (Session II) at Nancy Almaraz Stadium in Mexico, has Houston, Ole Miss, Oregon, Rutgers and Texas meeting in Session II ... Each session will start with games on Thursday with the event concluding on Saturday afternoon ... Teams will play each other once ... The Cougars' participation in the tournament marks the program's first trip outside of the United States for competition.

Pertens (OH) rounds out a strong 2017 class as the Cougars previous announced the additions of Ryan Emmert (MB), Abby Irvine (S) and Gabi Zelaya (OH) in November as well as Claire Karsten (OH) in August ... Pertens is a 6-0 outside hitter out of Tallinn, Estonia, where she attended the Audentes Sports School ... A player with international experience, she served on the Estonia Junior National Team from 2014-17 in addition to playing up on the Estonia National Team in 2016 and 2017 ... With Team Estonia, Pertens was teammates with former Houston standout Kadi Kullerkan (2011-14) ... She also played for Kohila Volleyball Club, with whom she helped win the 2016 and 2017 Estonia Cup in the CEV Volleyball Champions League and earn a silver medal in the Baltic League in March ... Klanac joins Houston after serving as the volunteer assistant coach at Buffalo for the 2015 and 2016 seasons ... In his role, Klanac will assist with day-to-day operations, travel coordination and alumni and recruiting databases ... Peters comes to Houston from Austin Juniors where he's worked since 2014 ... In his role, Peters will assist the full-time staff in all aspects of training and practices.
