AUSTIN, Texas -- Redshirt freshman Zach Tracy posted a score of 145 to tie for sixth and lead the University of Houston Men's Golf program to a third-place finish at the UT Longhorn Shootout on Saturday.
In a recent addition to the Cougars' spring schedule, the Cougars posted a team score of 740 on the 7,412-yard, par-71 course. Playing in a 6-count-5 format, Houston recorded a team score of 381 in the morning and bettered that by 22 strokes in the afternoon session.
Tracy opened the tournament with a 73 and followed with a 72 in the afternoon to record his third top-10 finish of the season.
Senior Matt Scobie finished ninth with a score of 147, while senior Emmett Oh tied for 10th at 149. Junior Michael Perras finished 13th at 151 with redshirt freshman George Gardner tying for 14th at 152 and freshman Pryce Beshoory tying for 21st at 156.
Lamar finished third with a score of 736, while Texas State finished fourth at 765.
Doug Ghim led three Longhorns among the top-four leaders with a score of 6-under 136. Teammate Scottie Scheffler finished second at 137, while Steven Chervony and Lamar's Zander Gous tied for third at 139.

Following the UT Longhorn Shootout, the Cougars enter the postseason when they compete on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf Club in Clearwater, Fla., on May 1-3 during the American Athletic Conference Championships.
