BASEBALL
Last Week
Team Red won Houston's Baseball's Red-White World Series behind a 5-3 victory, Friday. Red earned the series with after both teams played to a 0-0 tie on Thursday.

At this time, only 2017 baseball season ticket members will have the opportunity to reserve a seat for 2018, as renewals are available here … Fans wishing to become a season ticket member will have the opportunity to purchase in early 2018 … Season tickets for 29 regular-season home games at Schroeder Park are available for $200 for the reserved chairback seating on the lower level of the concourse of the stadium … For the fourth straight year, the additional "Reserved 2" seating option for the 2018 season is available as fans can purchase an assigned seat in sections 200, 201 and 202 for $150 … General admission seating will run in sections 203-209 and are available for $100 for the entire season.

Five Cougars scored in double figures, highlighted by 13 points apiece from frontcourt stars Nura Zanna and Chris Harris Jr., both making their Houston debuts … The Cougars outrebounded the Rams, 50-26, while connecting on 52.9 percent (36-of-68) of their shots in the game … On Friday, the program celebrated the 50th anniversary of the legendary Game of the Century between Houston and UCLA in 1968 and introduced the 2017-18 squad on Friday inside the Moores Opera House … Members of the 1967-68 team, including Elvin Hayes and Don Chaney, joined CBS Sports broadcaster and UH alumnus Jim Nantz for a round-table discussion … Entering their fourth season under Sampson, the Cougars open their season Nov. 10 against McNeese inside H&PE Arena on campus of Texas Southern University … Will be the first of 15 regular-season home games in Houston … Season tickets for the 2017-18 campaign are on sale for fans … To enjoy 15 regular-season home games, fans can purchase Reserved season tickets for $200, while General Admission tickets are available for only $100 at uhcougars.com/tickets … Current season-ticket holders can visit uhcougars.com/tickets and follow the appropriate links to renew their season tickets online at any time … As the former Hofheinz Pavilion is transformed into the $60-million Fertitta Center, the Cougars will play their 2017-18 home games inside Health & PE Arena on the campus of nearby Texas Southern University.

Houston Women's Basketball enters its fourth season under Head Coach Ronald Hughey … The Cougars return five letterwinners and four starters from 2016-17, while welcoming five newcomers to the fold … Houston is 30-12 all-time in season openers … Last week, Head Coach Ronald Hughey announced the hiring of LaMeisha Ligons as Associate Director of Operations to complete his staff for the upcoming 2017-18 season … In her role, Ligons will be responsible for all of the coaches' recruiting travel arrangements and will assist with team travel arrangements … Ligons will also help to coordinate community service events for the Cougars, while serving as a liaison between the Houston Women's Basketball program and alumni throughout the country.

The event will be held at Watts Cross Country Course, where the Cougars ran in the Texas A&M Invitational earlier this season … Senior distance runner Brian Barraza, who is coming off a second-place finish at the American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships, won the Texas A&M Invitational on Sept. 23.

Houston Football improved to 6-3 on the season and 4-2 in The American with a 52-27 win over ECU on Saturday.

Houston Women's Golf finished second at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas on Tuesday before taking third at the Battle at the Beach in San José del Cabo, Mexico over the weekend.

Last Week
Senior forward Selena Peters and freshman forward Jazmin Grant were named to the American Athletic Conference Second Team, while Grant also earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team.

Peters led the Cougars in scoring, recording 16 points off of seven goals and two assists … She closed out her career at Houston tied for fourth all-time in goals with 16 and tied for sixth all-time in assists with nine … Grant recorded five goals and five assists in her freshman campaign … She scored a goal or had a assist in three of last four matches of the season.
SOFTBALL
Last Week
Houston Softball announced an indoor practice facility is coming to Cougar Softball Stadium in Spring 2018.

The indoor facility, which will replace the current batting cage down the right-field line, will measure 70-feet by 80-feet … The 5,600-square-foot space will feature five batting cages, measuring 60-feet long by 15-feet wide each, with retractable nets for the space to be used in a variety of ways … The Cougars will also add an LED, Daktronics video board in 2018 … According to Daktronics, the new outfield video board will be the fifth largest at an on-campus softball stadium in the country and the largest in the state of Texas … The board, which will sit just beyond the left-field wall, will stand 29-feet-3.1-inches tall and measure 24-feet-4.0-inches wide with 576 square feet of space (24-feet by 24-feet) for live video, instant replays, statistics and scoring information, graphics and animations, and sponsor messages … The display features a 13HD pixel layout for crisp, clear imagery for a great view from every seat at the stadium … The indoor facility and video board represent $1.2 million in contributions raised through the Diamond Club, all in the last calendar year, marking a record-breaking year in donations received and funds raised.

Houston Swimming & Diving posted a 2-0 week and remained perfect on the season with wins at Colorado State and Northern Colorado.

Against SMU, three Cougars recorded double-doubles … Sophomore outside hitter Megan Duncan finished with 25 kills and 12 digs, while senior outside hitter Sarah Afflerbaugh totaled 16 kills and 12 digs, and freshman setter Abby Irvine tallied 30 assists and 31 digs … Against Tulsa, Irvine posted her team-leading ninth double-double of the season in a 29-assist, 16-dig effort … Houston finished with 10 service aces, its most in a conference match and tied for its second highest total overall in 2017.
