VALENTINE, Neb. â€" University of Houston Men's Golf seniors Alan De Bondt and Michael Perras each posted 69s to lead the Cougars to their second straight sub-par team round Monday during the Second Round of The Jackrabbit at The Prairie Club.
De Bondt overcame a double bogey on the par-4 fifth hole and moved back to even par with a birdie on No. 7. After three straight pars, the Antwerp, Belgium, native drained four straight birdies early in his back nine and capped his round with his team-leading sixth birdie of the day to finish with a 69 and move into a tie for 47th at 1-under 143.
Playing as an individual and beginning off No. 10, Perras enjoyed a hot start with four birdies on his first eight holes. Although he endured two bogeys in a three-hole stretch midway through his round, the 2017 American Athletic Conference Championships medalist rebounded with two birdies in a three-hole stretch on his back nine and surged into a tie for 24th at 4-under 140.
As a team, the Cougars posted a sub-par round for the second straight day with a score of 4-under 284 but slipped into a tie for seventh with American Athletic Conference rival UCF at 563.

The Calgary, Alberta, native suffered his lone bogey of the day on the par-4 ninth hole but returned to even-par with a birdie on No. 11 and moved under par with another birdie on the 429-yard, par-4 13th hole.
Playing as an individual, sophomore George Gardner equaled Williams with a 71 of his own. The Southlake, Texas, native started off No. 10 with a birdie but went double bogey-bogey on Nos. 16-17 to move to 2-over par through his front nine.
Fortunately, Gardner settled down with five straight birdies on his back nine and moved back to even par with an eagle on the 542-yard, par-5 sixth hole. He added his second birdie of the day on the next hole and finished his day with two straight pars to tie for 47th at 143.
