Cougars Welcome Yukie Sasaki

HOUSTON -- Yukie Sasaki has joined the University of Houston Women's Golf program after recently signing a National Letter of Intent, Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell announced Monday evening.
Sasaki will compete as a freshman with the Cougars beginning in 2017-18 and have four years of eligibility remaining. The Hiroshima native will become the second Japanese student-athlete to compete for the Cougars, joining current junior Yuka Kajiki.
In November 2016, Sasaki finished second at the IJGT Red Tail Open with a score of 142, shooting a 67 in the Final Round. She also won the IJGT IMG qualifier at Hilton Head Lakes with a score of 143, thanks for a First-Round 69, in April 2016.
"Yukie is a very well-rounded player and has competed on a national scale with success," Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "She is a good ball-striker and is really starting to come into her own as a player."
UP NEXT
With the start of school, the Cougars are preparing for the spring season. Houston returns to action Feb. 19-21 when it opens play at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship at English Turn Country Club in New Orleans.
Prior to that tournament, the Cougars invited all fans to join their fundraiser, slated for noon, Feb. 8, at Topgolf Webster (21401 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598).

Two-time LPGA Player of the Year and Olympics competitor Stacy Lewis Chadwell will be a special guest at the event. Participants will also enjoy a silent auction with a variety of prizes, including a trip to the 2017 Solheim Cup, valued at more than $4,000.
