ORLANDO â€" University of Houston junior Emily Gilbreth and sophomore Megan Thothong stood in a tie for sixth place at 145 following the Second Round of the UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club on Monday afternoon.
The two Cougars posted similar scores for the second straight day as Houston slipped into fourth place in the team standings after firing a team total of 295 for the second consecutive round.
No. 25 Missouri held the Second-Round lead at 584 to stand three strokes in front of Tulane with No. 15 Iowa State checking in at 588. Kentucky (595) rounded out the top-5 team leaders.
Thothong led the Cougars with four birdies on the day, including two on the first four holes and three on the front nine, to finish with a 73. Gilbreth drained three birdies in Monday's round, including the 483-yard, par-5 18th hole to cap her day, and finished with a 73 of her own.
Senior and two-time All-American Athletic Conference Team member Raegan Bremer was tied for 22nd at 149. Sophomore and 2015 All-American Athletic Conference honoree Yuka Kajiki bettered her First-Round score by six strokes with a 74 Monday and was tied for 51st at 154. Sophomore Maddy Rayner was tied for 77th at 157.
Missouri's Michelle Butler and East Carolina's F. Gustafsson Spang were tied for the Second-Round lead at 3-under-par 141. Josefine Nyqvist of Augusta stood in third at 142, while No. 68 Emily Penttila of Tulane was in fourth at 143.
FINAL-ROUND PAIRINGS
Tuesday's Final Round begins with an 8:45 a.m., shotgun start. The Cougars will compete in threesomes with student-athletes from Kentucky and Texas, starting off No. 3.
Thothong will be in the first group off No. 3, while Bremer will start her round in the first group off No 4. Gilbreth will tee off in the second group off No. 4 with Kajiki starting on No. 5. Rayner will begin the Final Round with the second group off No. 6.

UP NEXT
Following the UCF Challenge, the Cougars look to defend their team championship when they compete at the UNF Collegiate on March 7-8 at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.
A year ago, Houston won the first team championship in program history while Thothong earned the first individual title of her collegiate career.
From there, the team travels east on Interstate 10 to compete at the LSU Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge, La., on March 20-22.
