Houston Duo Invited to East-West Shrine Game

HOUSTON - Following the conclusion of their playing careers at the University of Houston, linebacker Tyus Bowser and defensive lineman B.J. Singleton have been invited to play in the 92nd East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 21 in St. Petersburg, Fla. The game will air at 2 p.m. CT on the NFL Network.
The two will join Houston linebacker Steven Taylor who had been previously announced as participating in the game. In addition to the three Houston alums at the Shrine Game, quarterback Greg Ward Jr. and defensive end Cameron Malveaux are slated to play in the NLFPA Bowl the same day in Carson, Calif.

Bowser closed out his career ranked seventh on the Houston career sacks lists with 21.5, part of his 27.5 career tackles for loss and 136 tackles. He started 23 games in his career with action in 48 games total. He also had eight pass breakups, two interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his four-year career at UH.
Despite missing five games his senior year with an injury, Bowser was third in The American Athletic Conference and tied for the team lead with 8.5 sacks. He also tied for second on the team with 12 tackles for loss, a number that ranked ninth in The American.
A model of consistency as evident of a Houston record 53 consecutive games played, Singleton finished his career with 77 tackles including 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He also had eight pass breakups throughout his career and one interception as a freshman vs. UTSA, the same game he blocked a field goal that was returned for a touchdown by Brandon Wilson.
