Steven Taylor Invited to Shrine Game

HOUSTON â€" Following the conclusion of his playing career at the University of Houston, linebacker Steven Taylor has been invited to play in the 92nd East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 21 in St. Petersburg, Fla. The game will air at 2 p.m. CT on the NFL Network.

Taylor closed out his career last Saturday as part of the winningest senior class in Houston Football history, finishing with 38 victories. He was part of the best two-year win total in program history with 22 wins over the 2015 and 2016 seasons as Houston started 5-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.
Taylor finished his career fourth in Houston history with 50 tackles for loss and fifth with 25.5 career sacks. He also ranked fifth with seven career forced fumbles.
The Cedar Hill, Texas, native finished his senior season at Houston second on the team with 74 tackles while tying fellow linebacker Tyus Bowser for the team lead with 8.5 sacks. He and Bowser were second on the team with 12 tackles for loss, while Taylor had two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery on the season.
He broke up three passes and returned one interception, part of four on his career, 74 yards for a touchdown in Houston's 40-16 win over Cincinnati.
