• With a 34-10 loss to San Diego State in the Las Vegas Bowl, Houston fell to 426-356-15 all-time.
• The Cougars finish the season with a 9-4 overall record.
• San Diego State won the toss and elected to receive. Seniors Brandon Wilson, Cameron Malveaux, Tyler McCloskey and Greg Ward Jr., were captains.
• Attendance was 29,286.

• Saturday's appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl marked the 25th bowl game in Houston history.
• Houston is 11-13-1 all-time in bowl games.
• The Las Vegas Bowl marked the fourth straight season and ninth time in the last 11 years that the Cougars have competed in a bowl game.

Greg Ward Jr.
• Ward owns a 27-6 all-time record as the Cougars' starting quarterback. With the loss, he finishes second among the Cougars' all-time winning percentage leaders with an .818 mark. Gary Mullins (1969-71) holds the school record at .833 (25-5 record).
• Ward finished his Houston career as the Cougars' career-leader in rushing yards by a quarterback (2,375) and rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (39). With 22 rushes in the Las Vegas Bowl, he set a school record and move past Gerald Landry (552 rushes, 1983-86) with 558 in his career.
• Saturday's appearance marked the fourth bowl game in which Ward competed at quarterback during his career. He did not start the 2014 BBVA Compass Bowl in a 41-24 loss to Vanderbilt.
• With a 2-yard touchdown run, Ward tied Bryce Beall (2008-11) for the Houston Football career rushing touchdown record with the 39th of his career.
• With 229 yards passing, Ward moved passed David Klinger (1991) into eighth all-time in program history for passing yards in a single season. He finished 2016 with 8,705 yards.
• Ward finished 25-for-34 for 229 yards and four interceptions. Ward ends his career with 747 career completions, the fifth Houston quarterback with at least 700 career completions.
• With a 12-yard rush late in the third quarter, Ward recorded his 29th run of at least 10 yards in 2016.
HOUSTON QUARTERBACKS BOWL HISTORY
• With his start in the Las Vegas Bowl, senior Greg Ward Jr. became the third Houston quarterback in school history to start three bowl games during his career. He joined Case Keenum (4, 2011 TicketCity, 2009 Armed Forces, 2008 Armed Forces and 2007 Texas) and Kevin Kolb (3, 2006 AutoZone Liberty, 2005 Fort Worth, 2003 Sheraton Hawai'i).
BOWLS PLAYED HISTORY
• With their participation in the Las Vegas Bowl, senior linebacker Tyus Bowser, senior defensive end Cameron Malveaux, senior tight end Tyler McCloskey, senior defensive tackle B.J. Singleton, senior linebacker Steven Taylor and senior quarterback Greg Ward Jr., became the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th players in Houston history to compete in four bowl games during their careers.
• The 2016 Cougars join a group which consists of Carl Barnett (2006-09), Carson Blackmon (2006-09), Michael Bloesch (2005-08) Brandon Brinkley (2006-09), Kenneth Fontenette (2005-08), Phillip Hunt (2005-08), Case Keenum (2007-12), Donnie Love (1978-81), Cody Lubojasky (2005-08), Ernest Miller (2005-08), Lonell Phea (1978-81), Chris Pilot (2005-08), Cody Pree (2005-08) and Quinte Williams (2005-08).
B.J. Singleton
• With his participation in the Las Vegas Bowl, senior defensive tackle B.J. Singleton tied the Houston career record with 53 consecutive games played. He tied the mark set by Nick Saenz (2008-11), Marcus McGraw (2008-11), Tyron Carrier (2008-11), Justin Johnson (2008-11) and Brandon Brinkley (2006-09).
• With his participation in the Las Vegas Bowl, senior defensive tackle B.J. Singleton finished in a tie for second in Houston history with 53 games played during his career. He joins the group of Nick Saenz (2008-11), Marcus McGraw (2008-11), Tyron Carrier (2008-11), Justin Johnson (2008-11), Carl Barnett (2005-09) and Brandon Brinkley (2006-09). Quarterback Case Keenum holds the Houston career record with 57 games played during his career (2006-11).
GAMES PLAYED HISTORY
• With their participation in the Las Vegas Bowl, senior tight end Tyler McCloskey and senior defensive end Cameron Malveaux finished in a tie for ninth in Houston history with 52 games played during their careers. They join a group of Trevon Stewart (2012-15), Bryce Redman (2010-14), Rowdy Harper (2011-14), Phillip Steward (2009-12), David Hunter (2008-11), Chris Thompson (2008-11), Kenneth Fontenette (2005-08) and Phillip Hunt (2005-08).

DEFENSE
• Houston forced three straight 3-and-outs by San Diego State to open the game. The defense forced a total of four 3-and-outs in all.
• For the fifth time in 2016 Houston shutout its opponent in the opening quarter. The previous four came against Lamar (W, 42-0; Sept. 10), at Texas State (W, 64-3; Sept. 24), against UConn (W, 42-14; Sept. 29) and against No. 3/3 Louisville (W, 36-10; Nov. 17). Houston has held its opponent scoreless a total of 19 quarters on the season.
• Houston limited the Aztecs to two field goals in the first half.
OFFENSE
• For the 10th game this season, at least seven players recorded one reception.
Tyus Bowser
• Senior linebacker Tyus Bowser sacked San Diego State quarterback Christian Chapman for a 6-yard loss on the first play from scrimmage. The sack gives Bowser 8.5 sacks for the season and 21.5 overall for his career.
• With 21.5 career sacks, Bowser moves into seventh all-time at Houston. Fellow senior linebacker Steven Taylor ranks fifth for the Cougars with 25.5 career sacks.
Ty Cummings
• Senior kicker Ty Cummings connected on a 31-yard field goal at the 6:38 mark of the first quarter to put Houston up 3-0. The field goal is Cummings' 16th of the season and 24th of his career.
• With his field goal, Cummings now has 102 points for his career. he becomes the sixth kicker in program history to eclipse triple digits.
Ed Oliver
• Freshman defensive lineman Ed Oliver recorded 3.5 tackles for loss, giving him 23 for the season. His 23 tackles for loss ties T.J. Turner (1984) for third all-time in Houston Football history.
Brandon Wilson
• Senior Brandon Wilson pulled in a 14-yard reception midway through the first quarter.
• Wilson finished with 52 yards on five receptions.
Keith Corbin
• Freshman wide receiver Keith Corbin recorded a career-long 32-yard reception late in the first quarter. He later added a 18-yard grab in the third quarter.
Corbin finished with career highs in catches (3) and yards (51).
Khalil Williams
• Junior safety Khalil Williams sacked San Diego State quarterback Christian Chapman for a 13-yard loss early in the second quarter.
• With the sack, Williams has two sacks both for the season and his career.
Brandon Wilson
• With a 33-yard kickoff return to open the second half, senior cornerback Brandon Wilson recorded his fifth return of at least 30 yards this season. He later added his sixth with a 31-yard return in the fourth quarter.
Linell Bonner
• Junior wide receiver Linell Bonner recorded a 20-yard reception midway through the third quarter.
• With his third reception, Bonner tied Tyron Carrier (2001) for ninth all-time at Houston with 96 catches in a single season. He later added two more catches to move into a tie for eight all-time with 98 with Demarcus Ayers (2015).
