Six Inducted in to Hall of Honor

HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Athletics Department inducted six individuals into its Hall of Honor last Friday night in the 2016 Hall of Honor gala that raised a gross total of $605,000 for Cougar Pride in support of more than 400 student-athletes.

The most successful Hall of Honor in terms of dollars raised, the gala was co-chaired by Carole & Ken Bailey and Bess & Rob Wilson III with Meredith Chastang serving as the event's auction chair. Celena Flores and Katina Jackson served as the event's special advisors.
Jenny Adams (Women's Track & Field), Kevin Kolb (Football), Brad Lincoln (Baseball), Phil Rodgers (Men's Golf), Frank Rutherford (Men's Track & Field) and Bill Worrell (Baseball/Contributor) were inducted as members of the the 2016 Hall of Honor Class.
More than 20 current Houston student-athletes were on hand volunteering at Friday night's gala as they gave back to those who support them while also honoring their predecessors in the athletics field.
Prior to the induction ceremonies, attendees enjoyed a silent and a live auction and big board. Dancing with music was provided by The Emotions. UH alum and Houston radio broadcasting star Matt Thomas served as master of ceremonies at the event.
Net proceeds benefit student-athlete scholarships through Cougar Pride, the fundraising arm of the Athletics Department.
By purchasing a ticket or reserving a table, Hall of Honor attendees impacted the lives of more than 400 student-athletes that represent the University of Houston. It marked the 20th class into the Hall of Honor and the ninth since the Hall was reintroduced in 1998. The current class brings the membership to 100 individuals and two teams.
