ATTENDANCE
• With Saturday's attendance of 36,552, Houston Football's season home attendance total at TDECU Stadium has reached 190,894. That ranks as the 13th highest single-season total in Houston history with one home game remaining.
• With Saturday's attendance, Houston Football is now averaging 38,179 fans per game through five games inside TDECU Stadium in 2016. That figure ranks as the fifth highest single-season mark in school history.
OFFENSE
• Houston was a perfect 3-for-3 scoring touchdowns in trips to the red zone in Saturday's contest. The Cougars have now scored on 45 of their 54 red zone trips bringing their percentage to 83.3, while scoring touchdowns on 68.5 percent.
DEFENSE
• Late in the fourth quarter, the Houston defense drew a 15-yard facemask penalty in the end zone that resulted in a safety. The two points was the third this season for the Cougars, and the sixth defensive scoring play this year (three safeties, a fumble recovery and two interception returns for a touchdown).
SPECIAL TEAMS
• Sophomore cornerback Jeremy Winchester's muffed punt recovery in the end zone is Houston's 39th non-offensive touchdown since 2010 and is the third special teams touchdown this season for the Cougars. The two previous were Brandon Wilson's 100-yard missed field goal return for a touchdown and D'Eriq King's 99-yard kickoff return at Texas State.
Greg Ward Jr.
• Senior Greg Ward Jr., is 26-4 as the Cougars' starting quarterback. He continues to hold Houston's career record with a .867 winning percentage and is the only starting quarterback in school history with a perfect season after going 13-0 in 2015.
• With 26 wins, Ward moved into a tie for second place all-time with Kevin Kolb (2003-06) as a starting quarterback at Houston. Ward passed Gary Mullins who recorded 25 wins between 1969-71.
• Ward punched in a 5-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter for Houston's second score. The rushing touchdown was the ninth of the season and 38th of Ward's career.
• With 7:17 remaining in the first half, Ward connected with Steven Dunbar on a 16-yard strike to extend the lead to 21-10.
• Ward found Chance Allen for a 6-yard touchdown pass with 4:27 remaining in the first half for his second passing touchdown of the contest. That marks the 15th time in his career and the fifth time this season that he has recorded multiple passing touchdowns in the same game.
• For the sixth time this season and the 15th time in his career, Ward threw for and rushed for at least one touchdown in the same game.
• The touchdown passes were the 15th and 16th of the season for Ward and the 45th and 46th of his career moving him into a tie with Jason McKinley (1997-00) for fifth on the all-time Houston passing touchdowns list.
• With his 186 yards of total offense, Ward became just the third player in Houston history with at least 10,000 yards of total offense. The other two are Case Keenum (20,114; 2006-11) and Kevin Kolb (13,715; 2003-06).
Jeremy Winchester
• After Houston's first offensive drive stalled, punter Dane Roy boomed a 51-yard punt that was muffed by Tulane and recovered in the end zone by sophomore cornerback Jeremy Winchester. The score was the third special teams touchdown this season for Houston.
Keith Corbin
• Early in the contest, freshman wide receiver Keith Corbin caught a nine-yard pass from quarterback Greg Ward Jr., for his first career reception. Corbin finished the game with 17 yards on 2 catches.
Ed Oliver
• Freshman defensive lineman Ed Oliver recorded his sixth pass breakup midway through the first quarter. That mark leads the nation among defensive linemen.
• Oliver also now has 16.5 tackles for loss on the season after collecting 1.5 in the first half. He entered the game fourth on the NCAA list this season.
B.J. Singleton
• On Saturday, senior defensive tackle B.J. Singleton became the 30th player in program history to appear in at least 50 games. Teammates Tyler McCloskey and Cameron Malveaux are on pace to reach that plateau next week against Louisville.
Steven Dunbar
• Junior wide receiver Steven Dunbar caught a 16-yard pass from Greg Ward Jr., with 7:17 remaining to collect his fifth touchdown of the season. Dunbar now has eight career scores through the air and finished the contest with 33 yards on 2 receptions.
Dane Roy
• Freshman punter Dane Roy boomed a career-long 51-yard punt to end Houston's first offensive drive. The punt was muffed at the 11-yard line and recovered in the end zone by Jeremy Winchester for Houston's first touchdown of the game. He then bested that mark with a 53-yard punt late in the fourth quarter.
• Out of Roy's 11 punts, six of them were downed inside the 20-yard line which are both Houston records while playing inside TDECU Stadium.
Chance Allen
• Senior wide receiver Chance Allen caught a 6-yard touchdown pass with 4:27 remaining in the first half to move the score to 28-10. The touchdown reception was the third of the season and ninth of his career.
Linell Bonner
• Junior wide receiver Linell Bonner caught nine passes for 97 yards marking his sixth game this season with at least five receptions.
Tyus Bowser
• In his first game since returning from injury, senior linebacker Tyus Bowser registered three sacks to give him
sack to give him 6.5 on the season and 19.5 in his career.
• Bowser finished the contest with 11 tackles, marking the first time in his career collecting double-digit stops.
