LONG BEACH, Calif. - University of Houston Women's Golf star Raegan Bremer started her summer in impressive fashion Friday by capturing the individual championship during the Long Beach Golf Festival's Women's City Championship at Skylinks Golf Course.
Bremer, who will be a senior with the Cougars in 2015-16, capped her tournament with a Final-Round 71 and posted a 54-hole score of 213. She fired the low rounds in each of the first and third rounds to finish four strokes ahead of Kassidy Teare and Sofia Chabon.
Bremer was a key leader for the Cougars, who competed at the NCAA San Antonio Regional in only the program's second year of existence. Friday's honor was only the latest in an award-winning career for Bremer. In May, she was named to the All-American Athletic Conference Team for the second straight season.
She established herself as the Cougars' leading performer during the 2014-15 season, topping the team with a 74.00 scoring average and 10 rounds of par or better. The Anaheim, Calif., native compiled seven top-20 finishes in 11 events, including five top-10 showings.
Bremer enjoyed a fourth-place finish at the spring-opening Delta Gamma Challenge in mid-February and followed that with a sixth-place finish at the UNF Collegiate to help lead the Cougars to the team championship, a first in program history. Bremer also finished sixth at the American Athletic Conference Championships, her second straight top-6 showing at the league's annual postseason event.
