Burrell Wins 60m Dash Among Nation's Best

HOUSTON - Sophomore sprinter Cameron Burrell won the 60m dash at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., while senior jumper David Brown won the triple jump at the Houston Tune Up as the Cougars claimed victory at both meets they competed in on Friday.
Burrell qualified for the finals after a 6.61 earlier in the day landed him fourth in the semifinals. The Houston, Texas native would save the best for last as he posted a 6.60 in the meet's final race of the day to claim the top spot.
Houston sent its top sprinters to compete among the nation's best at the Tyson Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas. The Cougars wrapped up an impressive first day of the meet by earning five top-10 finishes including Burrell's victory.
Brown helped the Cougars find a victory at the Houston Tune Up with a new personal record in the triple jump. The Texas A&M transfer set a new personal record in the event with a leap of 15.18m on his fifth jump to take the lead for good.
The Cougars' field competitors stayed home to help host Houston's final indoor meet of the season the Houston Tune Up. The Cougars posted 18 top-10 finishes and earned eight new personal records in the meet.
TYSON INVITATIONAL - DAY TWO
The Cougars will wrap up action in Fayetteville, Ark. with day two of the Tyson Invitational on Saturday Feb. 14. Events are scheduled to kick off at noon with the women's 3000m run and the women's triple jump.
