Cougars Split Squad For Weekend Competition

HOUSTON - The Houston Cougar men's and women's track and field teams will split their squads and compete in two separate meets this weekend with the majority of student-athletes going to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Tyson Invitational, and the other group staying home to host the Houston Tune Up at the Yeoman Fieldhouse.
The Cougars will host their final meet of the season, the Houston Tune Up on Friday at the Yeoman Fieldhouse. Houston welcomes 14 teams to campus including Grambling, Houston Baptist, Jackson State, North Texas, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston State, Southern, Texas Southern, Texas State, Texas-Pan American, Texas-Tyler, Trinity (Tex.), and UTSA.
Action for the Tune Up is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., on Friday with the women's weight throw. The running events will kick off with the women's 60m hurdles at 1 p.m., and will be on a rolling schedule throughout the rest of the afternoon.
The Tyson Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center. 31 Division I teams will compete in the event including the host team Arkansas, Air Force, Akron, Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Clemson, UConn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, LSU, Miami, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Penn State, South Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Tulsa.
The Tyson Invitational is a 2-day meet with all the action beginning at 1 p.m., with the women's mile run and the women's long jump. Saturday's events kick off an hour earlier at noon with the women's 3000m run and the women's triple jump.
