Ward Named Earl Campbell Award Player of the Week

HOUSTON - Houston quarterback Greg Ward Jr. has been named the Earl Campbell Award Player of the Week following his performance in Houston's 52-31 win over Navy Friday to clinch the American Athletic Conference West Division title.
The honor comes one day after the Tyler, Texas, native was named a Manning Award Star of the Week.

Ward had 391 yards of total offense in Friday's win and completed 26-of-35 passes (74.3 percent) for a season-best 308 yards and three touchdowns.
The elusive and electrifying Ward added 83 rushing yards and one rushing score, a 5-yard run.
In addition to Ward's honor, junior receiver Demarcus Ayers was named an honorable mention recipient of the weekly honor after finishing Friday's game with eight receptions for a career-high 161 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing a 29-yard touchdown pass.
Ward, Ayers and No. 17/18 Houston host No. 20/21 Temple this Saturday at 11 a.m. in the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship at TDECU Stadium.
