Bouter Finishes 2nd at Texas Invitational

RESULTS
AUSTIN, Texas - University of Houston sophomore Micaela Bouter finished second in the 3-meter dive Thursday at the 2015 Texas Diving Invitational, held at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Teammate Danielle Shedd also qualified for finals in the 3-meter, placing seventh.
Bouter finished with a total score of 337.35, just 7.65 points behind the winner, Mara Aiabocoae of Arizona State. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native earned her best score in finals with her last dive, a Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck that was graded at 60.20.
Shedd placed seventh in finals, with a score of 317.30. Her best marks of the evening session came with a Back 2 1/2 Somersault Pike that received a 63.00
Houston got off to a great start in the afternoon session, with all three Cougars finishing in the top-12 of the preliminary round. Bouter finished first in prelims, with a cumulative score of 322.15. Her top dive, a Reverse 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck, received a 61.60.
Shedd finished third in prelims, with a score of 309.75. Her second dive was her best of the round, a Back 2 1/2 Somersault Pike that was marked at 58.50.
Junior Taylor Olanski placed 12th in the preliminary session, scoring 280.40 over six dives. Her best marks came with a Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck, which received a score of 56.00.

Bouter and Shedd continue their run at the Texas Invitational Friday with the 1-meter springboard competition. The prelims start at 10:30 a.m. CT, with finals beginning at 5 p.m. CT. Live scoring is available here, and television coverage of the finals is available on Longhorn Network.
COUGARS TO HOST AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Houston will host the American Athletic Conference Championships for the first time as the best swimmers and divers in the league visit the CRWC from Feb. 17-20, 2016. Following the conference meet, the Cougars will look to close the season at the NCAA Championships, to be held March 17-19, 2016 in Atlanta.
