PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Houston sophomore Micaela Bouter was named American Athletic Conference Female Diver of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Bouter is the first weekly winner for the Cougars this season.
"Micaela was great last weekend, and I'm really excited for her," Houston Diving Coach Bob Gunter said. "They've all been working so hard, and I know they've all been really tired, so to see them come out and reap the benefits of their hard work is great. I couldn't be more pleased."
The Johannesburg, South Africa, native won the award after her two podium finishes at the Rice Invitational on Oct. 24. Bouter captured first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 315.45. She followed that up with a second place finish in the 3-meter dive with a score of 330.45, just behind teammate Danielle Shedd.
