HOUSTON - Junior hurdler Issac Williams won his fourth 60m hurdle event in as many tries this season, and Houston honored its 2014-15 senior class on the second day of the Howie Ryan Invitational at the Yeoman Fieldhouse, on Saturday.
Williams, who is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation, and No. 13 in the world (according to IAAF.org) ran a 7.85 to edge out Spencer Dunkerley-Offor (7.89) of the University of Texas to take the event. For the current school record holder, the win was William's fourth this season, and the Willingboro, N.J. native has won every 60m hurdle event he has entered this season.
Junior sprinter LeShon Collins continued his impressive season by winning the men's 60m dash competition. The Philadelphia Pa., native, who currently sits No. 12 on the NCAA list in the event won the event by more than a tenth of a second by running a 6.72.
On the women's side, senior Sade-Mariah Greenidge went out in style at Senior Day with a second place finish in the 60m hurdles. Greenidge clocked an 8.42 which currently stands as the No. 24 best time in the NCAA this season.
In the multi-events, sophomore Christopher Morales turned in an impressive showing during the two-day, seven event competition. Morales won the heptathlon pole vault with a jump of 4.60m which helped him to a third place finish in the competition. Morales' 5,187 points are enough to rank the Lanham Creek High School alum at No. 20 in the nation in the heptathlon.
