Bruce Gregory Named Associate AD for Auxiliary Services

HOUSTON - University of Houston Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Mack Rhoades named Bruce Gregory as associate athletics director for auxiliary services Tuesday. Gregory comes to UH after serving 11 years at Coastal Carolina, the last five as senior associate athletics director for internal operations.
Gregory, who worked alongside Houston Associate Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics/COO Hunter Yurachek while at Coastal Carolina, will oversee Houston Athletics' newly formed partnership with Sports and Entertainment, a joint venture between Aramark and VenuWorks, as well as, event operations with a focus on the opening of the Houston Football Stadium this fall.
Gregory will also oversee equipment operations, the women's tennis program and assist in UH's role in hosting upcoming NCAA Men's Basketball Regional Finals (2014-15) and the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four in 2015-16.
During his time Coastal, the Chanticleers hosted an NCAA Baseball Regional; a NCAA Baseball Super Regional; NCAA Division I Football championship contests in 2010 and '13; and NCAA Men's Soccer Championship matches in 2011, '12 and '13, as well as winning a competitive bid to host the VisitMyrtleBeach.com Men's and Women's Big South Basketball Championships in 2013, 2014 and 2015, sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to being promoted to senior associate AD for internal operations at Coastal Carolina, Gregory spent two years as associate AD for internal operations after serving five years as director of athletic compliance for the Chanticleers.
Gregory arrived at Coastal Carolina from Eastern Michigan, where he served in a variety of roles from 1998-2003 including: assistant director of compliance, director of football operations and assistant football coach. Gregory was an assistant coach at the University of New Haven in 1997, when the team attained a 12-2 record and was the NCAA Division II runner-up.
Gregory worked at Bowling Green as an assistant football coach from 1986-1988 and from 1992-1995. He was part of the coaching staff that helped lead the team to the MAC championship and a victory in the 1992 Las Vegas Bowl. Gregory also served as the wide receivers coach at Boston University from 1988-1991 and as the offensive coordinator at Hofstra in 1996.
Originally from East Stroudsburg, Pa., Gregory earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Western Maryland in 1984 and a master's degree in sports administration from Eastern Michigan in 2003.
An avid runner, Gregory has completed 33 marathons, including the Boston Marathon nine times. His father, Jack Gregory, is a former athletics director at Bowling Green. Gregory and his wife Tracy have two children: Megan and Brian.
2014 FOOTBALL SEASON TICKETS

University of Houston alumni from the last five years (2010-14) can purchase season tickets for just $125 (upper levels) and $175 (lower level) in specially designated Young Alumni sections with a multiplier of four times donations to Cougar Pride giving levels for the first five years after graduation.
Houston opens the 2014 season at 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29, when it hosts UTSA in the first game in the Houston Football Stadium.

Single-game group ticket sales for the inaugural season in the Houston Football Stadium are now on sale via the Houston Athletics Ticket Office.
