Track & Field Sends 11 to NCAA Nationals

HOUSTON - Eleven University of Houston student-athletes will make the trek to Eugene, Ore., for the 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships Wednesday through Saturday to compete against the nations best.
Senior Errol Nolan makes his fourth appearance at the NCAA National Championships as he qualified in three events for the Cougars. He is scheduled to compete in the 400-meter dash as well as a member of both relays.
Freshman Cameron Burrell qualified for his first national championships in the 200m. He ran a season best of 20.78 at the NCAA regional meet in Fayetteville, Ark. to grab the 11th qualifying spot. Burrell will also run as a member of the men's 4x100m relay team.
Hurdler Issac Williams snagged the last qualifying spot in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.81 during the quarterfinals. This is the sophomore's second time to qualify for nationals, however, a tweaked ankle kept Williams from competing last year.
Michael Mahnke was the first to punch his ticket to the national meet as he cleared a personal best height of 5.26m (17'-3"). This marks the senior's first and last national qualifier in the pole vault.
John Horton joins his fellow teammates as he punched his ticket to the national championships in the triple jump. His third leap of 15.79m (51'-9.75") was a personal best for the junior and sealed his fate into the finals. Horton entered the finals with the sixth best mark of the day and finished ninth. This is Horton's third straight year he has qualified for nationals in the triple jump.
Both men's relay teams have claimed their spots for a trip to Eugene this week. The men's 4x100m relay of LeShon Collins, James Arnett, Nolan and Burrell ran a season best of 39.59 to finish eighth in the quarterfinals. The men's 4x400m relay of Xavier Boyd, Dominique Charles, Jermaine Fyffe and Nolan also ran their fastest time of the season at the regional meet. The Cougars took the 11th spot for nationals with a time of 3:07.09. This is the first year in atleast 10 years the Cougar men have qualified both relays for the national championships.
On the women's side, junior Sade-Mariah Greenidge punched her ticket for the second time in three years when she took second place and an automatic qualifying spot in the 100m hurdles quarterfinals in Fayetteville, Ark.

TICKETS
Sell-out crowds are expected at Hayward Field, so fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early.
Fans may purchase tickets for the championship by visiting ncaa.com/tickets or calling 1-800-WEB-FOOT. The ticket office is open Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Casonova Center. If any tickets remain to be sold, they will be available for purchase at Hayward Field 60 minutes prior to the first event on each day of competition.
