DALLAS - University of Houston junior Courtney Ferguson surged into the top-20 leaders Saturday afternoon after posting an even-round 72 during the second day of the Dallas Athletic Club/SMU Invitational.
Starting on No. 10, the Clear Lake, Texas, native birdied her second hole of the day to put her round on good footing on the 6,257-yard, par-72 course at Dallas Athletic Club. She went on to add another birdie on No. 15 and used her third birdie on the final hole of her round to post the Cougars' lowest round of the day.
With that total, the Oklahoma State transfer moved into a tie for 16th with a score of 151.
Sophomore Raegan Bremer slipped into a tie for seventh after posting a 75 on Saturday. Although the Anaheim, Calif., native nailed four birdies in the round, she was hampered by five bogeys and a double bogey.
Freshman Emily Gilbreth was tied for 44th with a score of 156.
No. 48 Baylor maintained its lead with a score of 591 to finish four strokes ahead of No. 18 LSU (595). No. 29 North Carolina (597), UTSA (604) and No. 40 Kansas (605) rounded out the top-5 team leaders.

Bremer will start in the second group off No. 18 on Sunday, while Ferguson will compete in the first group off that hole. Gilbreth will be in the second threesome off No. 17

Following the Dallas Athletic Club/SMU Invitational, the Cougars will compete at the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championships on April 20-22 at the Ocean Course at Hammock Beach Resort and Golf Club in Palm Coast, Fla.
