GAME NOTES
• Houston dropped to 7-5 on the season with a 38-31 loss to Cincinnati in Paul Brown Stadium. The Cougars are now 5-3 in American Athletic Conference play. Houston finshed the season 3-1 in conference play road games.
• Houston now sits at 404-351-15 all-time.
OFFENSE
• Junior running back Kenneth Farrow led the Cougars with a career high 138 yards, his sixth 100-yard game of the season. Houston has had a 100-yard rusher in seven games this season. Farrow also scored the Cougars first touchdown of the game with a 9-yard rush.
• Farrow's career long 58-yard carry late in the first half led to Kyle Bullard 16th field goal of the season.
• Sophomore quarterback Greg Ward Jr. led the Cougars with a 40-yard touchdown carry on the first drive of the second half. The touchdown marked his sixth of the season and eighth of his career.
• In the last three games, Houston has scored with 12 rushing touchdowns. The Cougars had just four rushing touchdowns in the first three games of the season.
• Senior wide receiver Markeith Ambles notched a career long 89-yard reception from Greg Ward for a touchdown to start the fourth quarter. The play marked the fifth longest passing touchdown in school history and a career long pass for Ward.
DEFENSE
• Houston defense wasn't able to force a turnover against the Cincinnati offense, ending the nation best streak of 34 straight contests.
Kenneth Farrow
• Junior running back Kenneth Farrow led the Cougars with a career high 138 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. Farrow's previous high was 133 rushing yards against Grambling on Sept. 6. He has a touchdown in eight of the 12 games this season.
• Farrow has recorded multiple rushing touchdowns in back-to-back games and has six scores in the two contests. Farrow has 12 rushing touchdowns on the season and 20 for his career.
• With his 12th rushing touchdown of the season, Farrow moved into sixth all-time in touchdowns in a season for Houston. Farrow is the 17th Cougar back to score at least 12 touchdowns.
• Farrow has had a rushing touchdown in three straight games this season. He entered the game leading the American with 11 rushing touchdowns.
• Farrow eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the sixth time this season and has now accounted for six of the seven Houston 100-yard games in 2014. Saturday's game marked Farrow's third consecutive 100-yard game with 100-yards. Farrow's six 100-yard games leads the American Athletic Conference.
• Farrow rushed for a career long 58 yards with 3:20 to go in the first half that led to a 27-yard field goal by Kyle Bullard. His previous career long was 55 yards set vs Grambling on Sept. 6.
Greg Ward Jr.
• Sophomore quarterback Greg Ward led the Cougars with a career high of 360 passing yards 27 completions on 45 attempts and three touchdowns. Ward also tallied 84 rushing yards on the day. Saturday's game marked the second game of the season that Ward threw for more than 300 passing yards.
• In the Cougars opening drive of the second half, Ward led Houston with a 40-yard touchdown rush, marking his sixth rushing touchdown of the season and eight in his career. The rush also marked his second 40+ yard rush of the season.
• Ward has four rushing touchdowns in the last two games.
• Ward hit Markeith Ambles to open the fourth quarter for a career long 89-yard passing touchdown. The touchdown marked his eighth TD pass of the season.
• Saturday's game marked the third game of his career with at least two passing touchdowns in a game and the second game of the year with a rushing and a passing touchdown.
• In his first six career starts at quarterback, Ward is now 5-2.
Kyle Bullard
• Junior kicker Kyle Bullard hit a 26-yard field goal just before the half for Houston's second score of the game. The kick marked his 16th field goal of the season and is tied for seventh all-time with Sebastain Villarreal (1997).
Rowdy Harper
• Senior offensive lineman Rowdy Harper made his 51th consecutive start. He has started every game of his career and leads the nation in career starts by a lineman.
Efrem Oliphant
• Senior linebacker Efrem Oliphant led the Cougar defense with 14 tackles, marking his ninth game of the season and 18th of his career with double-digit tackles.
Wayne Beadle
• Senior wide receiver Wayne Beadle picked up a career long 35-yard catch from quarterback Greg Ward Jr. that led to the Cougars' first touchdown of the game. His previous long was 21 yards vs. Tulane (Nov. 8, 2014).
Markeith Ambles
• Senior wide receiver Markeith Ambles notched a career long 89-yard reception on a career long pass from Greg Ward for a touchdown to start the fourth quarter.
Deontay Greenberry
• Junior wide receiver Deontay Greenberry led the Cougars with 103 yards on 9 receptions, marking the 17th game of his career with at least six receptions. This game marked Greenberry's third 100-receiving yard game of the season and eighth of his career.
Demarcus Ayers
• Sophomore wide receiver Demarcus Ayers reeled in a 26-yard touchdown reception from Greg Ward to mark his first receiving touchdown of the season and the second of his career last coming at Rutgers on Oct. 26, 2013.
Steven Taylor
• Sophomore linebacker Steven Taylor tallied 10 tackles for his sixth career and third game of the season with double-digit tackles.
