Cougars Prepare for AT&T Winter Nationals

HOUSTON - The University of Houston will send four swimmers to the AT&T Winter National Championships, to be held December 3-6 at the Greensboro Aquatics Complex in Greensboro, N.C. The quartet of Mackenzie Alspaugh, Taylor Gregory, Ashley Grijalva and Maya Owens will represent the Cougars in five events total beginning on Friday morning.
Grijalva will be in first Houston swimmer in the pool, as she will take part in the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday. Later in day, Gregory will swim in the 100-yard backstroke competition.
On Saturday, Grijalva will swim her second event, the 200-yard breaststroke. Later on, Alspaugh and Owens will take the pool in the 200-yard butterfly.
Preliminary sessions begin at 8 am CT each day, and each session includes several events. Events featuring Houston swimmers are seventh and ninth on the agenda on both days, with exact start times to be determined.
For those that qualify, finals will begin at 4 pm CT each day.
