GAME NOTES
• Houston improved to 6-4 on the season with a 38-28 win over Tulsa. Houston is now 4-2 in American Athletic Conference play.
• Houston now sits at 404-350-15 all-time.
• With the win, Houston is now bowl eligible for the second straight year and third of the last four years.
OFFENSE
• After back-to-back 1-yard rushing touchdowns by running back Kenneth Farrow to start the game, Houston offense is now 8-of-15 on fourth down conversions this season.
• Houston had two plays of 40+ yards to open the first two drives of the game. The Cougars have now recorded 12 plays with 40 or more yards.
• Kenneth Farrow's 45-yard touchdown carry marked the second longest touchdown rush of the year for the Cougar offense behind the 64-yard scoring run by Greg Ward Jr. at Memphis.
• With Kenneth Farrow's 116-yard game, Saturday's game marked the fifth 100-yard effort this season with Farrow accounting for four. This game also marked the second time this season Houston has had a 100-yard receiver (Steven Dunbar - 150 yards) and 100-yard rusher (Kenneth Farrow - 116 yards).
DEFENSE
• Houston has forced at least one turnover in 33 straight contests, tying the nation's best streak entering Saturday. Ole Miss, who plays Arkansas Saturday, entered the day with 33 straight games.
• Since David Gibbs has taken over as Defensive Coordinator, Houston has 70 takeaways in 23 games which leads the nation in that span.
• Houston's defense has forced multiple turnovers in 27 of its last 31 games.
• With the fourth down stop in the first Tulsa drive of the game, Houston defense has now held opponents to a 30 percent (3-for-10) fourth down conversion rate.
• Houston defense had three players with double-digit tackles vs. Tulsa on Saturday. The last time the Cougars achieved that feat the was game at BYU (Sept. 11) by Derrick Mathews, Efrem Oliphant and Steven Taylor.
Kenneth Farrow
• Junior running back Kenneth Farrow led the Cougars with 116 rushing yards on 20 attempts and four touchdowns, marking his first career game with four scores.
• Farrow's four touchdowns today is tied for the second most in school history. The last time a Cougar had four touchdowns in a game was Bryce Beall (Sept. 25, 2010) vs. Tulane. Antowain Smith holds the Houston single-game record with five touchdowns vs. Southern Miss on Nov. 9, 1996.
• Farrow scored Houston's first two touchdowns of the game with a pair of 1-yard rushes during the first quarter.
• Saturday's game marked the first time the junior had at least two rushing touchdowns in a game since Oct. 12, 2013 vs. Memphis. He has a touchdown in six of the 10 games this season.
• With 116 rushing yards, Farrow recorded the fourth 100-yard rushing game of his career and this season. Houston is 4-0 in games in which Farrow reaches triple digits.
Steven Dunbar
• Freshman wide receiver Steven Dunbar's career long 40-yard catch led to Houston's first touchdown of the game.
• Dunbar led the Cougars with 150 receiving yards, a career best for the freshman, and the first career 100-yard game.
• The game is the fourth 100-yard game by a Houston receiver this year.
Adrian McDonald
• Junior safety Adrian McDonald intercepted a pass from Tulsa's Dane Evans with 1:42 left in the game for his fifth interception of the season, which ranks second in The American.
• With his fifth interception of the year, McDonald forced a turnover in a game for the 15th time during his career. McDonald has seven games this season with a turnover and has enjoyed five games with a forced turnover in 2013 and three in 2012.
Greg Ward Jr.
• Sophomore quarterback Greg Ward Jr. finished the game 17-for-22 (77 percent), 225 yards and a touchdown.
• In his first five career starts at quarterback, Ward is now 4-1.
Ryan Jackson
• Junior Ryan Jackson notched a season long 56-yard carry to start Houston's second scoring drive of the game. His previous best was 55-yards against UNLV (Sept. 20). Jackson finished the game with 95 yards.
Trevon Stewart
• Junior defensive back Trevon Stewart picked off Tulsa's Dane Evans to close out the 38-28 win Saturday afternoon, marking his third interception of the year.
Markeith Ambles
• Senior wide receiver Markeith Ambles picked up his second straight game with a touchdown catch with a 25-yard pass from Greg Ward.
Rowdy Harper
• Senior offensive lineman Rowdy Harper made his 49th consecutive start. He has started every game of his career and leads the nation in career starts by a lineman.
Efrem Oliphant
• Senior middle linebacker Oliphant led the Cougars with a season high 16 tackles. He has recorded 10+ tackles in eight of the 10 games this season and 17 double-digit tackle games in his career.
Howard Wilson
• Freshman defensive back Howard Wilson intercepted a pass, picking up his third interception of his career.
• Wilson tallied a career best of 15 tackles, his previous best was three vs. Tulane (Nov. 8).
Steven Taylor
• Sophomore Steven Taylor tallied a season best of 13 tackles. His previous best was 10 at BYU (Sept. 11).
