2013-14 Schedule
HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field program officially announced the 2013-14 schedule Wednesday afternoon.
Houston coaching staff has put together a schedule for the indoor and outdoor seasons that will allow the student-athletes to compete against high-caliber athletes.
The team travels to College Station, Texas, twice this season for the season opener Reveille Invitational (Dec. 7) and the Aggie Invitational (Feb. 7-8).
Houston will host four indoor meets in the Yeoman Field House beginning with the Houston Indoor Opener set Jan. 11. The Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational and the Carl Lewis High School Invitational follows (Jan. 17-18), closing out with the Houston Indoor Invitational slated Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
Between two home meets, the team heads to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Cherry & Silver Collegiate Invitational hosted by The University of New Mexico (Jan. 25).
Finally, the squad will attend the University of Arkansas Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. scheduled Feb. 14-15.
Since joining The American Athletic Conference, Houston will attend the inaugural conference championship set to take place in the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in New York City, N.Y., at the end of February.
The 2014 outdoor season begins March 21-22 when the squad travels to San Antonio to compete in the UTSA Invitational.
Also on the schedule, two trips to Austin for Houston include the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (March 26-29) and the Texas Invitational (April 12).
For the fourth time, a portion of the Houston Track and Field athletes will travel to Walnut, Calif. for the Mt. SAC Relays (April 18-20). Last season, senior Rick Fenton threw a record-breaking mark in the hammer throw of 62.08m (203-8).
Houston returns to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete in the Penn Relays April 24-26. Last season, the women's 4x100-meter relay team ran a 44.90 to take first place honors while the men's 4x100 took silver with a time of 40.49 at the prestigious meet.
UCF will host the first American Athletic Conference outdoor championships in Tampa, Fla. slated May 2-4.
