Lonnegren, Keenum Wins Cougar Of The Year Honors

Houston Athletics hosted its 2012 Cougar Choice Awards this week. The event, formerly known as the UH All-Sports Banquet was held at the Moores School of Music on the Houston campus.
Lonnegren earned a berth in the NCAA Championships for the Houston Diving program and swept the Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships with wins in the 1M, 3M and platform. She was just the fourth athlete in C-USA history to earn the three-event sweep.
Keenum won the Male Cougar of the Year Award for his exploits on the football field. The NCAA's all-time record holder for passing yardage, touchdowns and total offense (among many others), led Houston to a historic 13-1 record and a 30-14 win over Penn State in the 2012 TicketCity Bowl.
Roxana Button from Women's Basketball was named the Academic Cougar of the Year. Button led the Houston Women's Basketball program in 2012 and was named a First Team Academic All-American.
A final award presented was the Robert L. Grainger Award. The Grainger Award is given to a student-athlete that has exhibited academic leadership, served in the community and served as an outstanding role model for their peers. The 2012 winner was Bryan Brown from Track & Field.
