Houston goes for it on 4th and 9 and pass is deflected - Cougars turn the ball over on downs, North Texas ball on their own 36. 6:50 p.m.
End of the first quarter - 17 points scored by Houston is the second most in a period this year (22, 4th quarter vs. Louisiana Tech). 6:44 p.m.
Matt Hogan caps a 12 play, 83-yard drive (3:38) with a 21-yard field goal. Hogan is 5-for-8 on kicks this year, perfect from under 40. 6:37 p.m.
Kent Brooks forces a fumble to stop the UNT drive around midfield, just short of the first down marker. 1962 Tangerine Bowl squad honored during the break.

Dewayne Peace takes a slant to the end zone, 16-yard TD catch to make it 14-0. Houston's two scoring drives this game have lasted 1:15 and 1:41. Shane Ros made his first career catch on the drive, going for 24 yards.

Charles Sims caps off the opening drive with a five-yard touchdown rush. Had rushes of 26 and 14 on the opening drive - first opening drive Houston has scored on this year. 6:09 p.m.
