HOUSTON - The University of Houston swimming and diving team finished in third at the Rice Invite Saturday afternoon at the Aquatics Center Competition Pool..
Kimmy Ballo highlighted Houston's individual efforts with a runner up finish in the 200 back (2:07.10), third in the 200 free (1:55.76) and added more points in the 100 back in fourth (1:00.02).
Temperatures in the 50's cooled Houston's season best times efforts although many freshman continued to earn new marks during NCAA competition in Houston's third and final outdoor meet of the year.
Michelle Detka (59.89) paced a freshman crew that along with junior Laykin Lowry (1:00.35) took four of the top nine-places in the 100 fly.
Lowry added a third-place finish 200 fly (2:06.91).
After taking fourth in the individual sprint medley on Friday, senior Reka Kovacs paced her way to third in the 400 IM (4:35.24).
UP NEXT
Houston hosts the Phill Hansel Invite Nov. 15-17 at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center. Thursday's prelims kickoff at 10 a.m. returning the same night for the finals at 6 p.m. Men's Diving starts at 11 a.m. with the women's to follow.
