"H" Association Makes Donation to Cougar Pride

The University of Houston's "H" Association made a substantial donation of more than $40,000 to Cougar Pride, including a Corbin J. Robertson Society membership which provides a scholarship for a UH student-athlete.
During the course of the 2010-11 school year, the organization of more than 600 former UH letterwinners raised money through dues and fundraisers and sponsored many athletic events. The "H" Association sponsored reunions, various sport tailgates, the Hall of Honor Gala and various Cougar Pride events.
"The "H" Association has always been one of the strongest supporters of UH Athletics and has been able to grow the amount donated each year," said Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades. "Former letterwinners have a special relationship with the athletics department and they know how much their support can improve the quality of the student-athlete experience. I thank them for not only their money, but the contribution of their time"
Each year, the "H" Association sponsors the All-Sport Banquet, which honors the Most Valuable Players for each of UH's 16 sports, as well as the Male and Female Cougars of the Year.
"As a former UH student-athlete, it is very rewarding to know that we can continue to impact Houston Athletics in this way," said "H" Association President Pat Cauley. "We know how much our education and experience as Cougars impacted our lives and to give back means that we are helping to create those same memories for others."

ABOUT THE "H" ASSOCIATION: The "H" Association is a self-endowed, non-profit organization of the varsity letterwinners in the NCAA sanctioned sports sponsored by the University of Houston. Anyone who has been awarded at least one varsity letter is eligible to be a member of the "H" Association. The "H" Association was established to serve as a primary support group for all intercollegiate athletic endeavors of the university. The "H" Association's activities include fundraising, regular meetings, socials, and special projects; all designed to serve (1) as a welcoming environment for Cougar letterwinners and (2) as a vehicle to raise and donate funds to UH Athletics.
