HOUSTON - Three Cougars travel to Eugene, Ore. this weekend for the USA Track and Field Championships. Chris Carter, Errol Nolan and Grecia Bolton will make their second trip to Hayward Field in the past month as they face the nation's top competition.
The meet serves as the American national championship and the top three qualifiers in their event advance to the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, Korea in late August.
Grecia Bolton will double-up in events as she competes in the 100m and 200m. Bolton competes in the 100m on Thursday at 3:20 p.m. with her 11.41 time she set at the NCAA Championships to finish in 10th place. She's also set to compete in the 200m on Saturday at 1:55 p.m. Bolton's personal best in the 200m is 23.15.
Nolan races in the 400m on Thursday at 3 p.m. as the No. 13 seed with his 45.30 time. He too set his personal best at the NCAA Championships as he finished in 9th place.
Nolan won the Junior 400m competition last season and went on to finish third in the world at the IAFF World Junior Championships. He was also on the World Junior Champion 4x400m relay team.
All-American Chris Carter will enter his last meet representing the University of Houston as the senior participates in the triple jump. Carter is the No. 7 seed in the event. The triple jump is scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m.
