HOUSTON - Senior Chris Carter has been named the 2011 Conference USA Male Outdoor Field Athlete of the year as announced by the league office. Carter swept this year's C-USA Indoor and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year awards.
Carter qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in both the long jump and triple jump this past season and took All-American status in the triple jump with his 16.14m/52-11.5 mark.
Carter dominated the horizontal jumps during conference championships this season. He took both the long jump and triple jump championship during the indoor season and repeated that feat during the outdoor season.
This is the first Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year honor for Houston since the award started in 2009. That season saw current assistant coach Seun Adigun named the Female Track Athlete of the Year.
