Swimming & Diving Travels to Rice for Weekend Meet

HOUSTON - The University of Houston swimming and diving team heads to Rice University for the Holiday Inn and Suites Med Center Invite this Friday and Saturday. The two-day event features five teams (Houston, Rice, Arkansas, Nebraska and Boise State) from around the country in the inaugural meet at the Rice Aquatics Center Competition Pool.
The meet will be conducted over three sessions beginning on Friday at 4 p.m. The event picks back up on Saturday with a 9 a.m. morning sessions followed by the 1:30 p.m. afternoon sessions. The diving portion of the meet will be hosted at the University of Houston Campus Recreation & Wellness center.
Eighteen events including five relays highlight the swimming portion of the contest.
Friday's events will consist of the 400 medley relay, the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and the 800 free relay.
Saturday's morning sessions will start with the 200 medley relay, followed by the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 200 free relay and conclude with the 1,650 free.
The last session of the invite will start with the 200 backstroke followed by the 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400 free relay.
This weekend's meet will be the largest contest the Cougars have competed in this season. Houston has posted a 3-1 record so far with their only loss at home last weekend against Miami. The Cougars topped Boston University in a dual meet and won a tri-meet against Boston College and Northeastern.
