Former Cougar Chris Carter to Make Team USA Debut

HOUSTON - Former University of Houston track and field athlete Chris Carter will make his first appearance for the USA track and field team Thursday when he competes in the men's triple jump at the XVI Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The XVI Pan American Games will be held Oct. 24-30. It will be the largest multi-sport event of the year with approximately 6,000 athletes from 42 nations expected to participate in 36 sports. Carter is set to compete in the triple jump event at 3:20 on Thursday.
As a member of the Houston track and field team Carter was a four-time Conference USA triple jump champion. To add to his accomplishments as a Cougar, the Hearne, Texas native was a three-time NCAA Qualifier.
In his final season at Houston, Carter was named an All-American triple jumper, C-USA Male Athlete of the Year and C-USA Field Athlete of the Year.
